Our group numbered 28 and this hotel managed us all very well over the Easter weekend. The onsite bistro served us a hot and continental breakfast each morning and three course dinner at night.
Our room was larger than expected and very comfortable with heating provided by the wall heater (and fan and heated towel rail in the bathroom). Comfortable beds with plenty of doonas and blankets and pillows. The rooms are serviced daily which was greatly appreciated as we really enjoy a clean bathroom with daily replenished soap, towels, toiletries.
The only areas in which our room could be improved is to provide a reading light for the desk or the chairs, and more insulation in the walls. The walls are timber, not brick, so the guests walking past in the hallways can be heard, plus occasional chatter from the room next door, plus overhead pedestrian noise from the floor above.
Service was excellent; the duty managers were always friendly, calm, professional. One bonus is the hotel's offered wash/dry laundry service at $15 a bag (at time of stay) within the same day. This service was greatly appreciated as, on this trip, I was too pressed for time to do our own laundry.
This hotel is located across the road from the start of the township; it's a 5 min walk on flat ground to the quiet end of town, another 5 mins and you're in the centre of town. It's a great location if you want to walk around the town and go shopping.

I stayed one night on business. The room was acceptable...clean but tired decor. The bed was reasonably comfortable. The TV had only a few channels and very poor quality picture for a seemingly quality hotel. The bathroom was old and tired..the shower was difficult to get going as it one of those over the bath ones where you run the tap then pull a lever to get the shower running. It took several attempts. The breakfast was very poor value for the price and I’d recommend finding somewhere else for the price as you’ll find better quality food and preparation. Acceptable for a one night stay, but standards need to improve to make it top notch and provide good value for the price.

As two couples we had travelled from Wellington to Picton and decided to stop at Blenheim arriving at 7pm. Noting motels on the road in had no vacancy signs we stopped at the Quality Hotel on chance. They could offer us the last two rooms 'Superior' at the rate of $275 each. Although we queried this rate, but as it was late, we had no choice but to accept. The rooms were large for two people but nothing special. It felt that we had been offered two rooms that had been taken out of use because in the bathroom adjacent to the sink was a cracked and broken electrical socket, the toilet seat was not properly fixed and when I went to use the shower over the bath I got a face full of cobwebs. We complained to the reception staff and of course there was no manager available to handle our complaint and we left with promises they would raise this and any credit offered would be charged back to our credit card. Needless to say we heard nothing despite contacting them on twitter. Current prices for the same night next year are half what we paid. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL.
PS. My hotel in America has always been Choice Group with no problems.
