Great Motel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 May 2015
Stayed here with my husband and 2 kids (14,12) as I was walking the St Clair Half Marathon. When we arrived we got a very friendly reception and nothing was a problem. Walked into our unit that was clean and tidy the bathroom has also just been redone. Would recommend this property to anyone.
Wifi had so much free per day then had to pay.
Date of stay: May 2015
Room Tip: Ask for a off the road room. Don't leave it to the last minute to book as Blenheim has a lot...

Great guests are easy to accommodate. The whole "feel" of the group here for the St Clair 1/2 Marathon was positive. Makes being a host easy.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Montana Lodge while away on business. The motel is impeccably clean and comfortable, it also provides great value for money. It is also within an easy walk to the town centre and supermarket.

Peter and Margaret have been extremely accommodating on the two recent occasions I have stayed here. They are great hosts; passionate about the region and gave us some great advice on where to eat and what to drink, including a great restaurant (Gramado's) which is basically across the road.

I really enjoyed my stay here and will definitely be back.

There's nothing worse than stuck in a town on business, and trying to get the lay of the land by flying by the seat of your pants. We enjoy show-casing our region and town, and if it makes someone's stay more pleasant, then that's a small price to pay. It's easy to host nice people.

If you dont want a good night sleep then stay here , needs updating for the cost {over priced}
On arival we were not impressed with the host, she was upset that we had a different price than the one she was trying to charge us [email was from her husband with the price per night} She had to let us have the room at the price the husbund gave us, she was very angray and droped a few f *** booms like it was our problem and made us feel quite upset, and uncomfortable. Would not recomed this place to anyone

Room tip: dont stay if you need to sleep or if you have to get a room at the back away from the road

We are disappointed with the tenor of this review, and when taken in the context of our other reviews, it does seem a bit disparate.
We would like to point out that the person who booked the accommodation, took the last available 2 bedroom unit in the complex on a very busy weekend, The Forrest Estate Grape Ride, over Grape Harvest. We do not dispute that our complex is on State Highway 1 and is exceedingly busy during grape harvest, which was pointed out to the person who booked the accommodation, ( not this reviewer), at the time of booking. As accommodation was tight in Blenheim, and they left it until the last moment, they went with the booking. We would acknowledge, that we do have other reviews that reinforce the rooms on the road front are noisy, consequently we are taking steps to remedy the problem with sound proof glazing etc. We are so sorry that the guest did not bring this to our attention before they checked out, as we could have addressed it then and there and tendered our apologies in person.
We do take issue with the poor ratings of cleanliness, rooms and service as these are not substantiated when looking at our other reviews.

You don't seem to get as much for your money in Blenheim - I guess because of the proximity to the ferry port. Nevertheless the welcome here was warm and the unit was clean and comfortable, if a little in need of modernisation. We had a unit at the back of the property which meant we were away from the noise of the road. Each unit has its own carport. It is possible to walk into town for food and a drink, although it is a fair step.

Room tip: Units at the back, away from the road, will be quieter.

Points in the review are taken on board. We are in the process of modernizing the kitchens and bathrooms in all units in the complex. The one we have done are really sharp. Appreciate the review.

We stayed here for the wine festival weekend and we can not thank peter and Margaret enough for their genuine friendliness and hospitality they showed us. They were so accommodating and helpful and made our weekend away incredibly special. We have booked in for next year and can't wait to come back. Thank you marg and pete.

Great guests, a pleasure to host, nice to have people from north of the the Bombay Hills, to view and enjoys a great part of NZ and what it has to offer.

The hosts were very friendly.
The unit is nice and spacious, clean, and tidy in general.
Only one small minor thing is that the motel is located on the main room and could hear vehicles driving pass at night and even some late night pedestrians.
So might not be for you if you are sensitive to noise when sleeping, but if you can sleep through anything then this is OK.
Fairly good value.

We appreciate all feedback, and acknowledge that the proximity to State Highway 1, could be a detractor for some people. Generally the road front units are filled last. However in consultation with the owners we are taking steps to improve that sound-proofing, with a modernization program.

The positive feed-back with regard to service and rooms is appreciated, as we pass this on to our staff.
