The hosts, John and Paulette are fantastic, they will do anything possible to make your stay a pleasant one. The location is in the middle of the Marlborough valley (wine heaven). The breakfast deserves a better title than 'continental', a feast of home backed delicacies and home grown fruits and bircher. The room and bathroom are 5 star.

John and I are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us during your time in Marlborough. Thank you for the lovely comments about the breakfast we serve and that the bedroom and bathroom were up to expectations. It is always nice to hear that guests have had a relaxing time with us and have also enjoyed the other activities that have been experienced in the region. Hope the long flight back home wasn't too arduous and that you are now enjoying the wine you had sent home! All the best for the future. Paulette & John

We have enjoyed many B&B/homestays across the world but Stonehaven tops them all for sheer luxury and such wonderful hosts. John and Paulette welcomed us as they might family and showed a real interest in what we were doing, offered us useful tips and hints about the area and shared some of their own fascinating stories with us especially John’s adventures in the New Zealand bush.
Continental breakfasts were an absolute delightful and here's a strong tip; if you don’t fancy going to a local restaurant in the evening or arrive late from the ferry ask Paulette to provide a platter to eat in. It is lovingly prepared and utterly delicious using local seafood, meats and cheeses with Paulette’s own added home treats, oh and there’s also 'in room' homemade cakes and cookies!

If you are fortunate enough to be able to book your stay at Stonehaven Homestay you will have a superb experience. John and Paulette, expert hosts from caring for more than 7,000 guests in their first location, have designed and built a space for guests with meticulous attention to every possible detail. From private entrances with private deck to luxurious bathrooms, beds and linens, this fine accommodation has it all. It deserves its 5-star rating on its own, but when you add in John and Paulette the rating should double! We endorse the positive comments other reviewers have said about Paulette's excellent breakfasts and cooking in general and we also agree that John holds a wealth of knowledge about the area and is very happy to share if you ask. Both John and Paulette genuinely want you to enjoy your stay in the area and do everything they can to help. We recommend Stonehaven Homestay in the strongest possible terms!! You will love it!

My husband and I had the pleasure of a two night stay in this superb homestay B&B.

Our hosts, John & Paulette Hansen, have strong ties with the Marlborough area having run a similar homestay close by for 13 years. Their experience shows in this beautiful new build providing their guests an exquisite experience in the heart of vineyard country.
We were accommodated in a private king bed suite, beautifully styled with a fitout and furnishings of high quality. Our waking view was across to the vines that John advised made up the award winning Giesen Ridge Block vineyard. What a treat. We could sit on our deck with our breakfast and coffee and imagine ourselves briefly in paradise.
Did I mention breakfast? We were delivered a continental breakfast the previous night, giving us the latitude to eat when we were ready. Beautiful assortments of cereals, fresh breads, fruits and yoghurt. The piece de resistance were the home baked muffins - raspberry one day & lemon & cream cheese the next. She also provided home baked treats upon our arrival. My compliments to Paulette - that girl can cook.
Upon leaving she packed us more to accompany our ferry trip across Cook Strait - a most thoughtful gesture.
John's knowledge of the immediate area was profound & he generously shared his experience. He is encyclopedic in terms of the local vintages & the environment.
We felt most privileged to have stayed at this distinctive destination. It was a delight and we will return.

What a lovely review of our 'new' Bed & Breakfast. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience here with other travellers . We appreciate it very much indeed. We thoroughly enjoyed your company and it was a pleasure to host such engaging guests.
We are very pleased to read that you found the breakfast served in your suite a relaxing way to start the day with the opportunity to 'rise and dine' when it suited you.
We trust your onward journey in the North Island continued to be an experience to remember and look forward to your company again if you are passing through Marlborough in the future. All the best to you both.

My wife and I were the first couple of guests to stay the new location for the bed & breakfast hosted by the wonderful John and Paulette Hansen. To say that it felt luxurious and welcoming is an understatement. We were warmly greeted, shown to our beautiful suite and of course fed an incredibly wholesome and thoughtful breakfast the following morning. The suite overlooks a vineyard, and has a large bedroom and attached living room area with a couch, TV, and kitchenette. It is clean and modern, with every amenity and comfort, and plenty of privacy.

John and Paulette's knowledge of the vineyards, dining, and nearby attractions in the surrounding area was incredibly helpful. We highly recommend staying with them while exploring wine country and taking in the beautiful scenery.
