We made a reservation for 4 nights while I was attending the RNCGP conference at the convention centre. We arrived at Midnight at Wellington Airport and we were glad that we reserved transport through the Hotel. Dale was waiting for us as we walked out and were taken on a scenic route to the Sofitel. A lovely introduction to Wellington at night. Thanks Dale. We were checked in to our suite room that we had book by Pawan. The room overlooked the hill side and had a pleasing aspect . The welcome amenities as Platinum members was 3 lovely chocolates. The room was an amazing space but the fact that the suite is 2 connecting rooms where the doors can not be fully opened and is stopped by 2 sand bags is a bit "un-5 star "!
The rooms are well insulated , double glazed, quiet, and warm both in soft furnishings and climate controlled AC.

The Breakfast the next morning at Jardins was amazing : It had a very good a la carte menu and several buffet items that were very different from what we have experienced at other Sofitels including Queenstown and So /Auckland. ( The latter hotel has much to learn from the Sofitel Wellington. The produce was fresh and of high quality.

We had the benefit of Club Sofitel access and this was a welcome, warm and comfortable space. The Coffee machine did struggle but the staff were very accommodating in ensuring that we were provided barista made coffee from the restaurant.

The Canapes and drinks were excellent. The quality of the wine was superlative and the base spirits were of high quality.

The dinner at Jardins was exceptional and the service 2nd to none.

My final comment is about the SERVICE. The Staff from concierge to front office to waiting staff were EXCEPTIONAL. What was most striking was that unlike some of the Sofitels in Australia , there was an abundance of staff who were always willing to help and problems solve. I would like to thank Samantha, Alex, Tapan, Hawalah as well as Pablo at the Bar and Sergio and Anagha the duty managers. The 2 staff behind the kitchen bench on the 4 mornings at Breakfast time were amazing, efficient, and always had a service-with-a-smile approach.

The Sofitel Wellington is by far one of the BEST we have stayed at ( Sydney, Braodbeach, Adelaide can consider a study tour of your Hotel) Melbourne , Queenstown, Nusa Dua and Seam Reap are other Well run sofitels with a focus on exceptional service. A credit to the Management team.
