Ambience
Ambience at Sofitel Wellington exudes an elegant sophistication befitting of modern luxury. The combination of natural light, marble floor tiles, black panelled walls, and plush lounge chairs in cream, brown, and green, appear attractive and comfortable. The open reception appears welcoming and accessible, though the corridors are dark and narrow.

Room
Rooms at Sofitel Wellington are clean, comfortable, and cozy. I stayed at the Superior Room, which features the signature Sofitel 'MyBed', designed to elevate sleep to luxurious heights with its exceptional comfort. The modern bathroom with rain shower, resplendent with white marble and gold lamp finishes, is stocked with French amenities. The in-room wifi is fast and stable, but the smart cable television only has a small amount of channels, though the Bose sound system has good clarity.

Food
Food at Sofitel Wellington is served at the French restaurant Jardin Grill. The kitchen takes pride in serving well-executed, exquisite dishes, everything I had here was excellent. Ingredients are fresh, and dishes made to order with just a short wait. The limited seating means the restaurant tends to be fully booked, and advance reservations are recommended.

Service
Service at Sofitel Wellington is professional and efficient, attentive and welcoming. Guests are promptly accorded attention, with tasks carried out quickly. Housekeeping is hardworking and keeps the place clean. Kudos to Yu Ting and Christian for being so accomodating with requests, and for making each interaction pleasant!

Facilities & Activities
The facilities and activities at Sofitel Wellington is generally pitched at business travellers, with good meeting room facilities and equipment, and plenty of foyer space for networking. Their location in the city centre helps as well, as does the business-esque French dining at the restaurant. Noticed plenty of meetings going on here. Also love how their location is within 30 minutes or less walking distance from the majority of attractions in Wellington.

Four star experience. Unfortunately there was a lack of experience amongst the staff, albeit pleasant there response to customer care / information was poor. The room was fine and room service was good. Unfortunately something was taken from our room which which was unpleasant, when I reported the above there was little if any acknowledgement, which didn’t make for an overall good experience.

Room tip: Don’t leave anything of personal value in your room

The service was excellent. The food was superbly prepared. The recommendation for wines were spot on. Heartily recommend this restaurant. We liked it so much that we ate there three nights in a row. We had a front row table which allowed us to watch our meal being prepared. Furthermore, we were able to interact with the chef and his staff. Nothing could be better. Thanks to all. It made our visit to Wellington better.

this hotel does not disappoint.
My daughter and I stayed for a long weekend. This hotel continues to be our favourite Wellington destination. This weekend was up there with the best of them
We had a great room overlooking the hills and even a view of the harbour, also a bath to soak in!
This weekend it rained virtually from the time we arrived until departure however our spirits weren’t dampened as we relaxed and enjoyed the ambiance.
We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the Club where we wined and had nibbles before dinner at the superb Jardin Grill.
Between showers we popped out for a 10 minute stroll to the shops and also to the beautiful gardens across the road and the beehive just a short stroll away.
We felt like we were in a luxury resort enjoying the pampering. Thank you so much Sofitel heartists.

Lovely weekend away with club room access. Loved the room decor and the space provided. Welcome chocolate and water provided on arrival.Club room from 5 to 7pm, adequate selection of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks provided. A couple of hot dishes and cheese and crackers.
You can also access the club room throughout the day for coffee, soft drinks and nuts, chocolate and chips. Buffet breakfast ok, food often empty. Food to order made quickly and of high standard.Overall great stay areas of service could be improved at check in, in club bar and breakfast. Staff are just a little lack lustre.

I wanted to enjoy my Sofitel experience in Wellington NZ. Unfortunately, there were too many inconsistencies. I contacted the hotel a few days before my arrival to arrange arrival transportation. I generally hope for a quality car with a safe and very experienced driver. This was not offered. They reserved a local taxi for my arrival, but no driver was waiting for me at my on-time arrival.

I was unable to connect to the hotel wifi during my stay. I have four apple devices, all standard. There was nothing exotic about my device configuration that should need a call to technical support. Another guest was referred to speak with technical support from the hotel lobby, which frustrated her and demonstrated a denial of the overall issue with the system in the hotel. Wifi is essential, so this alone made my trip unviable.

The laundry submission cut-off time is 8 am. I went downstairs at 8:15 and had to pay a 50% premium for same-day service. This seemed churlish. Instead of owning the situation, the front desk person blamed the hotel's laundry vendor. Making the hotel or their vendor's issue my issue is not responsible service.

The restaurant was terrific. The housekeeping team was attentive.

The hotel is on a steep hillside. The flat hotel driveway was full of unattended parked cars. Getting the suitcase out of the car on the slope was dangerous, to say the least.

Overall, this hotel does not seem to care about repeat business. The wifi issue alone is a never-again situation. However, the overall lack of attentiveness of the front-of-house staff left me cold.

I would finish by letting the hotel know I have over 100 nights this year at another chain at their highest status. You did absolutely nothing to encourage my loyalty to Sofitel or Accor. Disappointing.

Bonjour Kia ora Johnny-Deeeee, firstly thank you for your indepth review and the detail and very rounded approach to the review. It reflects a fair and honest assessment of your experience with us. The wifi is a long term resolution, we need to increase the bandwidth into the hotel and that's a work in progress that requires a capital investment that I am pushing for. I apologise unreservedly for the laundry and transfer issues you raised. We do have a transfer company we can use and our people can organise this, we obviously haven't advised all of our team how to do this so Im sorry for the lapse in service.
