Wellington's Best Hotel

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Jan 2022
If you are staying in WLG then the Sofitel is the best bet for Location, Comfort, Quality, Elegance and a bit of French style! This outstanding Boutique Hotel encompasses all of these things and more! The luxury, classic & superior rooms are all very well manicured! The food with Club Sofitel Breakfast was some of the best I have tasted! Overall, this beautiful, French residence is the key to Wellington City!

While this was our first time at the Sofitel Wellington, we are no strangers to the Sofitel brand and the exceptional service that they provide. We were in Wellington for a Sporting competition and were delighted that we made the decision to stay here.

Once again, it was the Sofitel staff that made this stay so very special. Each and every person that we met was so helpful, so kind and friendly, and also interested in you as a person, not just as a guest.

We decided to upgrade our room after the competition and Danny went the extra mile to ensure that we had the most perfect room that was available. Danny was also amazing at answering any of our queries and supporting us in any way that he could. We arrived in our room to a delicious dessert platter which I really wanted to take a photo of....... but my husband had already started eating it haha.
Nothing was a problem for us with Danny looking after us, thank you so much.

Pankaj, wow - what can we say! On check-in we heard from behind us a very familiar voice from the Sofitel Queenstown, it was our special friend, Pankaj who had made so many of our stays in Queenstown, so memorable for us both. We were absolutely delighted to see him and feel that it was destiny that we chose to stay at The Sofitel Wellington, and got to reconnect with Pankaj.
Pankaj also went out of his way to make sure that our stay was one to remember, and we really appreciate all that he did. If you ever have the pleasure of meeting him, you should count yourself very lucky. The Sofitel Wellington is extremely fortunate to have Pankaj, and we do hope that they treasure him.

Thanks to Pankaj, we also were lucky enough to meet Vera who looked after us in the Executive Lounge, which we would highly recommend. It is so comfy, has a large range of drinks and some very yummy snacks as well. Nothing is too much trouble for Vera, she was so friendly and polite and makes you feel very special. We even purchased a few meals in the lobby but chose to eat them in the Executive Lounge, which was fabulous.

Nirdesh looked after us each morning at breakfast. It was a pleasure to meet him and we look forward to seeing how his career shapes up. He had everything we needed ready, all we had to do was make eye contact and whatever it was would arrive.

Our room was gorgeous, with beautiful French details in an urban setting. It was immaculately presented and cleaned. Housekeeping was exceptional! I am not ashamed to say that I have OCD when it comes to hotel room cleanliness, and this did not disappoint. We were so comfortable that we wished that we had booked for a few extra days, and will most definitely be going back again.

Thank you so much to the Sofitel Team for providing such an amazing customer experience.

We stayed in room 610 for one night and it was spectacular. The decor and furnishings very stylish. Petit fours waiting for us on our arrival in the room and bottled water also. Bathroom and bed a pleasure to use. Dinner in the restaurant was also worth the visit. Food presented in an amazingly sophisticated manner and like art. Service great all round from check in, valet parking and check out. Only issue was as an Accor Plus member the usual discounts weren’t applicable, due to Christmas. Very disappointing after nearly 6 months in lockdown and not being able to use paid membership to be told the discounts don’t apply. A bad look for Accor.

Room tip: No electric car charging and valet parking only at $40

Jardin Grill is the best restaurant of the year in my opinion.
We dine out a lot in Wellington and visit Jardin on regular basis.
I rate Jardin as the best due to the standard of the staff, always pleasant and never any problems with ordering.
The open kitchen staff are very professional and great to see a clean, tidy and well run kitchen.
Menu was and wine list was top rate.
Note: read the description on the dish carefully and ask the staff if not sure to avoid any surprises with hot spices (scallops)
Would recommend and will return.
Entertainment Card welcome.

Bonjour Kia ora Rodkpage, firstly and mostly thankyou, merci, nga mihi for your kind and courteous praise of Jardin Grill and its team. You have helped future diners with your feedback on the menu selection and the availability of the Entertainment Card discount in Jardin Grill (excluding special events and blackout dates). Jardin Grills and its open kitchen layout is a unique selling point for us, and Im grateful its recognized in market, Raymond Faulkner, GM
