Checked in yesterday and so far a very mixed feel of this hotel.

First off, be aware that the pool is currently closed. We’ve been traveling for 2 weeks in Nz with children and sought out this hotel because it had a pool on site. Traveling with kids for our family when it’s hot means making sure they have a pool at some point to relax. They were very excited. Got to check in for them to tell us the pool is closed BUT they have arrangements at 2 pools in town to use. What’s really unfortunate is that they are 20-25 walking distance carrying children, swimsuits and towels. In other words, we can’t use a pool as that’s not feasible without a car.

No mention of whether they offer breakfast or not. I can’t quite tell if there is a real restaurant as we’ve only seen the bar and weren’t given an orientation of the hotel at check-in. Breakfast offer would be so appreciated with children as it wasn’t an option at time of booking.

Waited until 4pm and our room hadn't been cleaned. We then realized there was a button at the door to push that said "make up my room". Maybe our fault, but with 4 people in one room it gets messy quickly. We left and came back a few hours later to a strange scene. The bed sheets were pulled back but bed not made, pillows thrown on the bed, some trash taken and some left, some glasses taken and some left behind dirty, no new glassware. It was bizarre. We can hand wash our dishes and make the beds, but I expected "clean".

Concierge has been so helpful and kind.

We got 2 welcome drinks at check-in as part of our Platinum status. We just left another IHG property in Queenstown and were given 4 drink coupons which was a nice touch since we clearly have 4 people on the reservation.
Obviously this is trivial but something to note that the service at the other IHG hotels in the area are far superior.

When we got our welcome drinks at the bar the server came to get our glasses and kind of scoffed at us. I'm not sure if it's because we had children with us or that we didn't order additional drinks?

Location is ideal for walking and beds comfortable.

Fabulous location only minutes from the tram up the hill and lots of restaurants and bars on the door step or short walk. We walked every where and so easy to get around. I parked the hire car in the car park next door for 42 dollars a day or can do valet for 50. Just unpack your bags at the hotel and let the valet do it as it’s much easier. The rooms are superb and the bed is amazing. Our best hotel room for comfort and being ultra modern in NZ so far. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We got the ferry to South Island and it’s literally less than 5 mins away. Fab experience at this hotel

Room tip: Use the valet service for ease

A fancy hotel in the heart of Wellington, a stones throw away from bars and lots of places to rent, shop, and more!

I stayed here for just under a week and its a nice place. I found that ALL staff were super friendly and went out of their way to assist no matter what the issue was, or the request.
The staff in the Executive Lounge were great at all times! I can't remember their names, but very helpful and should be pat on the back! Thanks!

The food in the lounge was always fresh, and changed from night to night. Sometimes the service in the morning or evening got really busy in the lounge and they needed more staff, but it was great. Drinks, a great view, something to eat before dinnner, and plenty of options to choose from. Breakfast in the lounge was also a winner, freshly cooked eggs by the chef, yum!

The room was nice and comfortable, i got upgraded to a king room, not much a view which was disappointing as a top tier Diamond member, but it was comfortable and the bed and pillows were devine !

Gym is currently under renovations, so thats a shame, no sauna, and there is a make shift gym on the 1st floor to use, but hopefully that will be finished early new year.

The printers in the lounge are very old school, no ability to air drop and print through Wi-Fi! Get with the times, spend some coin on new printers to make life easier! Super hard to get a document printed, and scanned, but the staff in the lounge managed to do it for me after a while, but this should be something to action - new printers / scanners.

The lounge was always cold in certain areas, the aircon doesnt cool the lounge area evenly, a lot of people i noticed were making comments and leaving the lounge early because of this issue.

Overall the stay was pleasant, the elevator screens need to be looked at, always flicking, and signange to the lounge isnt well displayed.

Staff all very welcoming and friendly, and i would be happy to stay here again, especially when the gym and sauna re-open!

Thanks for the stay! Well done to all your staff for making my stay pleasant.

Room tip: Include the Executive lounge into your booking, you won't be disapointed.

My husband and I took a rare opportunity to get away for a weekend for my birthday. I booked a junior suite with club lounge access and at every turn the service was above our expectations.
The ladies in the club lounge were very attentive and were more than happy to help. Breakfast chef was a master of a poached egg and all the food was amazing.
My husband ate his weight in smoked salmon.
At one point there was some maintenance work being done on an upper floor of the hotel (not part of the hotel itself) and the drilling was rather loud. The manager offered to move us and showed me two alternative rooms if we wished to move. We ended up staying were we were as the work was due to stop 2 hours and we decided to go to the club lounge until it finished. The manager gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and waived our car park fee.
We were abit blown away as we didn’t expect such amazing service.
Thank you to everyone at intercontinental Wellington for making it such a memorable stay and we will be back.

Room tip: Get the club lounge access.

We spent a week at the Intercontinental over our daughter’s wedding.
We’ve stayed a few times in Wellington and the location of the Intercontinental can’t be beaten, absolutely central to everything.
Our room was excellent and included club access which was so nice. Evening drinks and canapé’s overlooking the harbour was a treat and the staff were great. Special shout out to the concierge team (Jeromy?) who organised several things for us and gave great advice during our stay.
