AHHHH! LUXURY AT THE EDGEWATER INN IN KARAKA BAY, WELLINGTON, NZ

Review of Edgewater Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Mar 2019
After two weeks exploring New Zealand and coming off the grueling (for us) Milford Track 5-day experience, we ended our March 2019 vacation at the Edgewater Inn. Heaven! The property was lovely, rooms sparkling and comfortable, and our hosts were amazing. Stella's Cordon Bleu breakfasts were scrumptious and Jurgen's informative advice on what to do in Wellington was better than the Moon Book. Both were the essence of graciousness and they did everything possible to welcome and take care of us weary travelers. Highly recommended.

We could copy And paste the other reviews. Stella & Juergen host the most fabulous place to stop for as long as possible. Location idyllic. Nothing to do there except walk the most gorgeous path along the shore road. Breathtaking and relaxing while viewing the Picton ferry pass up the channel. City centre not far by car. A couple of cafe restaurants within a few km. where the food was ok but if you want fine dining you may need to go further. Stella’s breakfast was wonderful with great engagement with the other guests. There was a view to savour in an extraordinary vast room while indulging the taste buds and brain! Thanks so much. Probably our top BB experience in 4 weeks travel . Book it if you can.

Stella and Juergen are good, welcoming hosts and provide an excellent breakfast. The drive into the city is picturesque and not far. As it was a private, home, themrooms are all different and the place has, character, and is right on the water. They both gave us ,it’s of good and useful advice for our time in Wellington.

Room tip: Ours was first flo0r,and had,an AMAZING bathroom!

This place is amazing and that is on all aspects:

- Location overlooking the waters of Karaka Bay.
- The Room - Impressive Design and Quality
- The Hosts - Genuine Friendly
- The Breakfast - At a quality most hotels could learn from

There is only positive things to say - If we get back to Wellington we would for sure stay there again.

With all of the above this is a really good deal for the money - far better than any other we experienced in NZ.

Even the proposed restaurant for Diner on the day of arrival was perfect.

I does not come any better than this !!!

As its name suggests, this lodge is right by the water with incredible views across the harbour. Wellington's CBD is just a short drive away and the film-making hub is close by.
Rooms are huge and the whole house is beautifully designed.
But best of all, Stella is a great host - really knowledgeable and nothing is too much trouble (she even found my wife an emergency dentist!).
Needless to say, breakfast was also superb.

We stayed at the Edgewater Lodge in later November 2018. This home is exceptional and its views are spectacular. Wellington is a bustling city with a lot going on so finding this quiet, convenient location was a true stroke of luck. Jurgen and Stella are wonderful. Stella is professionally trained in hospitality services and her breakfasts are unique and delicious. Jurgen gave us spot-on advice about what to see during out stay and his directions were on point. We absolutely loved our visit to the city in large part due to this B&B.
