Great Hostess

Review of Edgewater Lodge
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Nov 2018via mobile
As per all the other reviews, Stella is a great Hostess. We were provided with maps, advice on things to do and places to eat on arrival. Her breakfasts are amazing and freshly cooked to your specification. Bed linen in lovely and rooms are clean and well equipped. There is a guest lounge area where Stella provides complementary tea / coffee and cake. Small fridge with other items, beer, wine etc at an additional cost.

A high class B&B. The location, the view, and the breakfast were fantastic. Our hostess Stella was awesome. She was very helpful and friendly. The room, the lounge, the free wine and beer for our consumption was not normal. If we ever return to Wellington we know where to stay.

Room tip: Any room in this B&B would be great

We spent one night at the Edgewater Lodge as our "jet lag" overnight in Wellington. Stella is a great hostess! She was very helpful in giving us travel tips for the rest of the trip. The room was very nice and comfortable. Her breakfast was amazing! Great location and beautiful view! I would highly recommend this B and B!

This is a top notch B and B in every respect. The room we had was private, gave spectacular views to the entrance to Wellington Harbour and across the bay. Under floor heating, large and luxuriant bathroom and a large and comfortable bedroom. There is a guest lounge. Home cooking. Wines to chose from. A breakfast with a wide range of choice - hot and/or cold - the highlight for me were the NZ fruits - kiwifruit, tamarillo and feijoa for example. Stella and Jurgen are gracious hosts with an extensive background in restauranteering. By NZ standards this B and B is expensive but it is excellent value for money. Once visited I am sure, like us, you will be back.

Edgewater Lodge, true to its name, lodges on the edge of the water: the view is gorgeous, the house is spacious, our room was excellent, the hosts Stella and Jurgen were very friendly and helpful with Wellington advice, and Stella provides delicious breakfasts. Ask her for her mince pies. It's only 20 minutes by car from town on very scenic routes. We had a great time there.

Room tip: Heated floor!

I can not imagine a more beautiful home! It was, in a word, exquisite. The bedroom we stayed in was lovely and private, and I appreciated the home-made treats by the bed. The breakfast was honestly the best I have ever had, as the owner is a professional chef. My husband and I also enjoyed hearing about the history of the house and the
