This review is going to sound a bit under-appreciative, so to give some context, this was a local 'staycation'. For that sort of stay we'd usually be somewhere with a bit more "wow" e.g. close to waterfront with view, or at the airport, or arty/quirky, or a club room option, that sort of thing.

But the price was right to give Atura a go, knowing it wouldn't have the zing of some other options.

The room was OK, that's all. I wasn't expecting more. But it's not a sort of "hang out in" sort of room. There's not extra space with separate seats for example. Shower pretty basic and on the small side for a hotel that isn't in the budget category. Not even wine glasses. One piece of art (photo of what looked to be a geothermal area) on the wall. Barely could get a wine bottle into the fridge. The TV was passable though without a guide to the channels it took a lot of scrolling around. It'd be fine for a 2 or 3 night stay if you were spending time elsewhere and the bedroom was mainly a place to wind down a bit while lying on the bed, then sleep.

Now for the more positive stuff, because the overall experience was worth it
- the current 'Wellington Offer' deal of a low price plus 2 drinks and breakfast
- I spotted their restaurant Frankies is on the First Table website had not been booked for that night so I grabbed that. It was a good meal.
- The general ground level area including the restaurant and reception areas were quite nice
- The bar includes an outdoor area where we had a drink as it was a surprisingly mild & still evening

As we spent time at the bar, the restaurant twice (i.e. including breakfast), and overall paid not a lot for everything we got, we're happy with the stay and that's why we stayed. 4 out of 5 stars given the good deal price wise. Nothing was wrong with the place. But I wouldn't come back in a staycation/fancy overnight stay context.

Only stayed for one night in a family room with my elderly Mum and sister. Room was pretty tight for space but perfectly adequate for our needs. Handy location and best value we could find for 3 people. We appreciated being able to check in early, and being able to leave our bags at reception as our flight left late on the day we checked out. Good continental breakfast, only criticism would be the fruit selection, not much in the way of fresh fruit, and the fruit salad was cut in to enormous chunks! Everything else lovely. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Okay for one night, very small room, light from outside came in over the top of the curtain which made the room too light. More expensive than Rydges at Wellington airport which Is fantastic so found Atura rather disappointing. Breakfast okay would have been better if it wasn’t cold.

Stayed one night with my teenage daughter. Wasn't sure what to expect and have high expectations so I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Sure the room was smaller than many hotels nowadays but it had everything we needed, quality of things were good. A bit more colour in the room or pictures on the walls in the bedroom would be more interesting. A plug in the bathroom sink would be helpful too.

I was only expecting a continental breakfast so was delighted to have full breakfast options with the family package.

Overall a very good stay and will be back regularly.

Thank you all.

Room tip: Family room was at the back overlooking the car park - it was quiet.
