We had three nights in Finnimore House. Very comfortable room, shared facilities. Willie was very informative and would have helped with directions and locations to visit but as we had been to Wellington several times before, we were in a good position to get to all the places we needed to. Centrally located in a quiet street we found it very easily although the drive is very steep up to the front door and parking, if there are other guests, can be a bit tricky.

Room Tip: The Library room is a bit dark, try for the Sitting Room bedroom.

A large, comfortable house with the two guest rooms and shared bathroom on the ground floor. Warm welcome from the host, who is very helpful with recommendations on what to do in Wellington.
It brought back memories of what a B&B should be....

A charming place to stay. The ambience of this Historic House is impressive. Very friendly Irish/Kiwi hosts, who give lots of information about "What's on in and around Wellington". Big clean rooms and a healthy and rich breakfast. I was fully satisfied with my stay.

My son and I stayed for 9 days with hosts Willie and Kathleen in November 2014. It was a perfect stay, with all you would hope for.

They welcomed us into their lovely historic home (built in the 1870s) - and were so helpful in figuring out public transport, things to see, and the cultural differences you encounter as a non-resident. (The bus picks up right by the house and goes directly down to CBD. It is less than 10 minutes down to Te Papa.)

The rooms were just beautiful - with a considered antique feel. The beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of room to store clothing.

In the evenings when it is warm, they have a lovely veranda with table and chairs. And there is also a comfortable common room if that is what you like.

The breakfast was always well-prepared and on time - they even happily accommodated some dietary restrictions we had. We will return to see Willie and Kathleen next time we are in Wellington.

You should consider this gem of a place if you are visiting Windy Welly!

We were only passing through Wellington and had one night before catching the ferry in the morning. As always we chose the accommodation based on what we thought would be the best value for money, and we were not disappointed.

Finding it by car after dark was a bit of a challenge, however once we arrived we received a warm welcome from Willie. The room was spacious, well appointed and decorated in keeping with the period of this historic building. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and having a fridge was a bonus.

Although having a shared bathroom is not our preference, we were the only guests for the night. We enjoyed the extra space in the main bathroom as opposed to the ensuites that we normally have. The bathroom was clean and well appointed.

Willie is quite the conversationist and we enjoyed our chats. Willie was very helpful with providing advice on where to go and eat.

We had a very early start to catch the ferry, and although we knew that having a super early breakfast was outside of Willie's normal routine, he went well beyond the call of duty to accommodate us. We had joked with him about having a traditional Irish breakfast, and I half had the feeling that if he could have got his hands on soda bread and black pudding the these would have found their way onto our plates. It was an excellent breakfast.

Our stay was too short, and it was time to get a heartfelt fairwell from Willie. Thank you for a short, but wonderful stay.
