Hotel on Devonport continues to be a very enjoyable place to stay. Check in was efficient and the staff were friendly. The free welcome drink (delivered to my room) is a nice touch. The room was clean, modern and spacious, with a king bed, sofa and reading desk. The bathroom had plenty of room. The shower pressure was very good. Liked power outlets beside the bed. The flat screen on the wall worked fine, with numerous Sky channels. Undercover car parking is convenient, although the spaces are tight. The hotel location is great: 2-3 minutes walk to the Strand and the great selection of restaurants. I didn't eat at the hotel but guests can enjoy the classy restaurant at the Tauranga Club (located in the hotel complex). I have stayed at the hotel on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July. As many have commented, the hotel is ideally situated to walk to shops, restaurants and bars. The car was secure in covered parking which you are charged for. Our harbourside room was lovely and yes I agree, it was a nice touch to have a welcome drink. Our room was warm, comfortable, immaculately clean and had a great view. The railway line passed right by the room but we were not disturbed at all by any noise. We had a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed with soft linen. The bathroom was well laid out and altogether the room was most satisfactory. On booking, you have many choices of bed type, bathroom facilities and many others so there will be something to suit everyone's taste. Staff were most friendly and efficient. There is access to The Tauranga Club where we had a delightful lunch one day. (See separate review). It is a shame in some respects that there is no hotel restaurant or bar but there and many cafes, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. There are no other hotel facilities at The Davenport however, we had a most pleasant stay and we would stay there again.

Great central location in the CBD. Just around the corner from The Strand which is packed with restaurants and bars. Very friendly welcoming staff. Free drink on arrival was a nice surprise, - choice of wine; beer or non-alcoholic drinks.
Some areas of the corridors could do with a freshen up with a lick of paint.
Overall a very good place to stay while in Tauranga

Was given a nice harbour view room with basic amenities and size of room is perfect. $10 for overnight parking is moderate o guess.

Service is excellent with arrival and departure carried out seamlessly. Complimentary Apple for all guests and welcome drinks which include beer, wine and juice is a nice touch.

Thank you.

For years we've always stayed here in summer, but this was our first July. The bathroom is large and so is the tiled floor area - and it's cold. If under-floor heating can't be put in as a renovation at a later stage (for the shower floor too), then recommend slippers for the night-time trek to the toilet during the night. We had a week here and it was noticeable. The rest of the stay was perfect as usual - excellent staff. Have already booked for February!
