“Best in Tauranga”
Reviewed 27 April 2015 via mobile

Were we pleasantly surprised when we visited this restaurant for dinner. The setting is by far the best in Tauranga, and I was just blown away by the decore. A beautiful restaurant that makes you salivate even before you see the menu.
We were shown our table and our friendly service waitress welcomed us and brought cold water. We ordered drinks and I took some time looking at the AC/DC trophy cabinet at the Grammy and other awards. Above the entrance a set of Phil's drums which are on display.
We all decided on the pork ribs as a main meal. Our drinks came and 20 minutes later our food arrived. Ah man, I have never seen pork ribs presented so tastefully and in a lovely shaped plate.
The ribs were "fall off the bone" delicious, and the golden brown crispy chips were made in heaven...nice, nicer, nicest chips ever. A beautiful arrangement of crispy fresh garden salads completed the plate...so fresh I can still hear them grow.
Off with the gloves and we tackled these delicious lips....there is silence at the table as I see 4 faces maneuvering the rib into their mouths like a pile driver with the right hand, and slowly the rib is extracted with a clockwise rotation.....and plops, only the skeletal remains is removed and dumped.
Considering that the restaurant became busy, the staff regularly were on hand to top up the glasses, and to clear the cutlery.
A stunning restaurant at a stunning setting, decorated stunningly and serving wow food by willing and friendly staff members....what more does a diner want.
Go visit Phil's Place, you will not regret it.

“Great food, very good service”
Reviewed 25 April 2015 via mobile

No reservation, but we walked in early. Stayed for a drink and after a look at the menu decided to stay and eat. Service was non intrusive, there when we needed them, great table with views of the marina. Both meals were spot on. Perfectly cooked seafood and pork mains. Will visit again.
