Recommended from my work mate, Tried Nepalese chat pate which was exactly same as Nepalese taste. Every one loved this Nepalese and Indian fusion lamb dish “ Duo Lamb” which was delicious and different than regular curry. Every one loved this small cosy and friendly ambiance. We will be back

We spent 5 yeas working in the Nepal as well as visiting for trekking numerous times. This restaurant ranks at the top of our favourites list not only for its exquisite Nepali kia but for their outstanding hospitality and service. Last year we booked the restaurant for a combined birthday party and probably had about 60 + guests who all thoroughly enjoyed both the atmosphere and the great selection of Nepali food. If you are visiting Taupo you will not be disappointed stopping by this restaurant.

Surprised at the great ratings - very standard menu with mid results. Like, you’re not still hungry - but nowhere near five stars. Oily lentils, skimpy on the rice, naan was above average - but once you’re like “well, the bread wasn’t bad” you know you wish you’d made a different dining choice.

This was my second visit to Malabar. However sadly it was not up to the first experience. This time we bought a take out meal. The rice was obviously left over rice re heated. it was lumpy and off white colour. The sweet n sour chicken amounted to about a table spoon. it tasted like a re heated left over meal. Very disappointed.
