Indian Affair is our favourite Indian restaurant & is always first choice when visiting Taupo.
Reasonably priced & good sized portions are served so don’t fill up on appetisers. See my pic of the Vegetable samosa!
Our mains were the Butter Chicken which was absolutely delicious & Seekh Kebab which was tasty but was a little dry. We also had 1 of their delicious Garlic Naan’s with the mains.
I have to say, on this visit, we felt the service was less than the high standard we have come to expect.
A very good wine & beer list also. The draught Kingfisher washes the meal down nicely.
Easy to recommend Indian Affair

When we walked in the door & waited to be seated a waiter behind the bar pointed us to a table without any verbal communication. Slightly unusual but not a big deal. The waitress who then took our order seemed unable to smile. It took about 10 minutes for our drinks to come, the restaurant was not busy, and I could see our drinks standing on the bar but it seems the bar waiter did not consider it his job to bring them to our table.
The oddest thing was when I went to the bar to pay the bill, the waiter simply said "seventy one" indicating that was the amount due, and did not utter another word for the rest of our interaction - not even 'thanks', 'hope you enjoyed your meal' or even 'goodbye'.

We went to Indian Affair on our way south for fishing and it was a great way to start our trip - very good food and great service. Mixed platter starter, Saag goat and goat Korma between us. My mate left his hat there, so when we picked it up 3 days later we just had to have another meal! Mixed platter starter, chicken Tikka Masala, and Saag goat again. Next time we're in Taupo guess where we'll be going?!
Yes we like Indian cuisine, but we don't always return to a restaurant, let alone in the same week. If you appreciate good quality ethnic cuisine I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Excellent food and friendly service, even allowed us to change the music to something Indian, gave the restaurant a better feel. Enjoyed ringing the bell to show our appreciation

My husband and I went here for an early dinner, food was beautiful, service excellent, was a bit disappointed that the interior has changed since the last time we visited, no table cloths and paper napkins, one of the dishes had a huge chip in it. But can't fault the food.
