I give 100/100 to the couple who run the place. We stayed there on the 10th Jan2018. We reached early n without any delay she made us check in. On request our room was upgraded for NZD10. We just fell in love with lake view. The lady was helpful in everything. We highly recommend the place.

This is no-frills accommodation but had everything that you’d need for a basic stay: hot shower (although absolutely no pressure so dribbled out!), towels, fan in the room for hot nights, tea & coffee facilities, fridge, toiletries etc. The staff were really friendly! Great views of Lake Taupo and good location. We used this as a base for Waitomo & Tongariro and it worked well for that. If you’re looking for a bed, this is great but if you want a place to spend some time in, maybe spend a little more for something smarter.

Family of four stayed three nights in a family unit with queen bed in lounge and two single beds in bedroom. Booked Lakeview Family Room with great view of the Lake.Hosts friendly and helpful. Motel old, needs renovation and lots of cleaning, inside and out. Disappointed with cobwebs, dust on most of furniture and bird droppings on the windows in both rooms. Main room accommodates queen bed, lounge - only two lounge chairs so had to sit/lay on bed or sit at dining table - far too small for our family for 3 nights. Layout of unit was not conducive to a family as we had to go through the bathroom and toilet to get to the bedroom this meant that we had to co-ordinate the use and movement in the bathroom and toilet. Photos and reviews on booking sites look and sound great but be cautious families need additional space especially if staying longer than one night. Wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend this motel for families..
