Just stayed the 1 night. Great location with nice clean bathroom. A bit of care when stepping into the shower it is a little slippery when wet. A good sized fridge for wines and beers etc etc. Good sized T.V. screen and comfy bed. The owners are very very friendly which makes it a great place to stay. :)
We stayed here for two nights and were pleased with our room, bedroom for the kids and the big bed in lounge with tv for the adults....amazing view of the lake from our window. The managers were friendly and helpful, we thought $380 was reasonable for what we got with the room and having the kids with us. Little annoyed that there isn't a door separating the bathroom from the bedroom. Otherwise we had a good stay.

Good value for money at $ 95.00 per night - lovely view of Lake Taupo. The owners/managers were friendly and accommodating. The room provided all the necessities - the shower, however was quite pathetic and the wifi connectivity was irritating to connect to and impossible to stay connected to! Good location though, within easy walking distance of a great pub!
Stayed here with my family in early January, overall it is a great place to stay – especially if you are given the choice to stay on the top floor. Very clean and quiet, with great views that overlook Lake Taupo and the Tongariro National Park. The host were super helpful if you ever needed anything and very friendly.

The rooms are very simple, small, but have everything you may need. The room was quite cheap too so no complaints. Excellent spot right by the lake with views down to the mountains at the south-west of the lake. Free Wi-Fi, although it cut in and out regularly, still free is free.
The friendly people who run the Motor Inn were always helpful when we asked them queries about Taupo, and even helped us doing our laundry. We had one issue where the leg of our bed broke during the night and they were very quick to move us to a new room (with a better view!) with no hassles.
