We visited Hosking House as our retreat for a 30th wedding anniversary. The place is beautifully renovated, our room was delightful. Hot cross buns fresh for guests and an exquisite breakfast. We felt very spoiled and will be back!

The Hosking House is perfectly located to be able to walk to New Plymouth city center and still feel quiet and relaxing. The hosts Rachel and Rodney are brilliant, and know all the best places to eat and all the compulsory attractions the Taranaki area has to offer. We could not have picked a better place to stay in New Plymouth. Quyanaq!

Room Tip: You can have your breakfast delivered to your room for a cozy romantic start to your day.

We stayed 2 nights during our holiday to NZ. A wonderful place to stay, room large and clean and lovely touches with tea, coffee, water and a range of alcohol readily available. Breakfasts were also very good. Particular mention must go to Rod and Rachel's (who are brill hosts) recommendations, though. They were excellent, from which bars to visit to what walks were close by and even Rod's suggestion of a cafe to stop at on our journey to Wellington paid off - great coffee and cake at the Mothered Goose in Bulls! Please check this property out if you are visiting New Plymouth, you won't be disappointed.

We just love getting to know a bit about our guests, pointing them to restaurants and attractions that we think they'd like, leaving them to discover New Plymouth, and hearing the feedback. Many thanks and glad we could help! -Rachel & Rod

My wife and I recently travelled to New Plymouth for a two-day getaway, and what a fabulous stay we had at Hosking House! Rod and Rachel were very gracious hosts, and our room, The Taranaki Room, exceeded our expectations in every way. The breakfasts were delicious, with an array of continental foods, as well as a full breakfast to follow. All of the food was very fresh and nicely prepared. We also appreciated the extra touches: fresh, cold water in our room's refrigerator; an assortment of teas; and, an honor bar with beer and wine. In addition, Rod and Rachel provided a very informative list of local restaurants that they recommended as well as a brief description of each eatery. We tried two of their recommendations and they were superb restaurants! We also appreciated that the Hosking House is a short walk to downtown and only a five minute walk to the park. Their gardens are expansive and lovely, and, the veranda is a very relaxing spot to chill. My wife and I have stayed in many B and B's around the world, and the Hosking House surely rates as one of our favorites. p.s. we really enjoyed meeting their yellow lab, Weston
