Company policy, so had to stay here. Room standard for this type of establishment. Food and wine so ridiculous so expensive. Small glass of wine NZD$15.00 (a bottle can be brought for NZD$11.99). First night for dinner had the Honey Mustard Chicken with spring vegetables - the honey sauce overpowered the dish and the spring vegetables were not what I was expecting.

Handy to main attractions in New Plymouth, has restaurant on site and all amenities.
Could do with some TLC, little run down. Parking for rental cars adjacent to property. New Plymouth has great arts and craft attractions and wonderful gardens to visit.

Room tip: I was put on the mezzanine floor and had no problem with noise. It is a long way from reception to the main lifts to the floors above

Clean & tidy room with triple glazed windows. The hotel layout is a little confusing however, and noise from other rooms transferred through the walls a bit too easily for my liking. There is free parking at hotel included, but most of the city center attractions are within easy walking distance. There is a resteraunt on the bottom floor & room service is available.

The hotel is centrally located close to many decent restaurants. The staff was friendly and the rooms clean and dry. The bed in our room was at the end of its life... There was some noise from a disco near by that woke us at 3am. Free parking is a plus and the rates are good.

The Copthorne does the bare minimum. It’s clean, tidy and comfortable enough, but there is nothing special about it at all.

The maze of corridors and unusual floor levels makes me wonder whether the building was once an office building.

My room had all of the amenities you’d expect. Limited range of toiletries, with a shampoo dispenser in the shower instead of separate shampoo/conditioner bottles. A notice warned that the spa bath in my room would ‘self clean’ by running the spa motor briefly about an hour after use. While I didn’t hear it, I imagine it could be distracting after an evening shower.

I ate breakfast in the restaurant. It was, again, the very bare minimum. No orange juice on offer (but there was an orange/apple blend), and the cereal and fruit selection was very poor. There was a more generous range of cooked items on the buffet, but with no one in the restaurant, it was past its best when we came to eat it.

I’d stay again, but only because our corporate travel policy doesn’t allow us to stay anywhere better.

Quite edequate for a short stay when passing through. Old fashioned but comfortable.
Parking is tight but the staff were welcoming. The room rate was reasonable and the facilities were fine. We would be happy to stay there again if in the area.

Room tip: We stayed in rooms at the rear of the hotel which were nice and quiet. I would have thought main road side would be more noisy.
