Great hotel!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Aug 2024
I was on an epic research journey of two months and depended on a travel agent to book my schedule and hotels. This hotel was early in my trip. I was really sad I only had one night there. The room was charming and clean with great amenities. Also it has a natural mineral water hot tub available at no additional charge. The restaurant's breakfast was quite good. Also the location was handy to the many interesting shops and restaurants in the lovely town. I hope to visit again.

The rooms are comfortable and the hotel is emaculate. It is close to the city center. There is easy access to restaurants, public transportation, and meeting point for tour buses. Eats Street is close by and there is a great place down the street to purchase breakfast pies called Goldilocks.

Room tip: Go to Goldilocks bakery down the street if you need a quick breakfast before you meet up with an early morning appointment. It opens at 6:00

We chose the Regent for its great location near downtown Rotorua.

Checkin was fast but we had trouble fitting my large SUV rental in their tiny parking lot. The other challenge was carrying our suitcases up to the second floor.

Inside our two bedroom, we had a living room, tiny kitchenette and two large bathrooms. Our balcony overlooked the pool. It was comfortable but being so close to the parking lot we were woken up very early in the AM when there were a bunch of people taking really loudly under our window.

We did not eat on site but there were bus loads of visitors filing it up. Eat Street was right next door so one did not have to go far for a meal.

One tip you can park your car on the street after 5pm until 9am for free. Hourly parking all other hours.

General experience was great - the room was lovely and 95% or the staff were helpful. Super king bed and a beautifully appointed room. Really quiet. Hot pool was nice but a touch worn.

My gripes were the housekeeping being a bit erratic eg took away our bath mat and didn't replace. Coffee plunger was broken and despite 3x requests wasn't replaced. To be honest a Nespresso machine in the room would have been nice.
One server in the restaurant looked very unhappy with life and was super rude when we asked about a table at 7pm.

Fantastic location and would stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights in the “cutie room” which was nice and cozy and clean.
Hotel is well located with free parking. Can walk to heaps of places to eat and drink, as well as its own restaurant and bar, however we didn’t eat here.
There’s also a a private indoor mineral pool, and heated outdoor pool but I didn’t use these facilities either.
There was live music coming from eat street that was quite loud until it finished at midnight, but other than this our stay was great. Fantastic shower pressure also which I loved.
Great stay and all the staff we encountered were great.

The dominant colours of this hotel are black and white. It looks brand new and we were knocked out by the decor. The room, bathroom, facilities, food and staff are exceptional. The comments from us and other travellers were that they wished they could take the hotel with them when they moved on to the next destination.
The one contra is that the hotel is so outstanding all the other hotels we stayed in although nice, did not live up to the standard of this hotel.
