WOW, we had a fantastic / awesome / incredible / amazing (etc) night at Peppers on the Point. Started as soon as we drove up when we were greeted my name as we got out of the car, shown around the property and then shown our room! We were lucky enough to be upgraded and had the original bedroom from when this was a family home. Then they offered to serve us our meal in our room - what better way to spend our wedding anniversary.

Wow....Loved this place! We came on a ‘Luxury Escape ‘ and were not disappointed. A delightful atmosphere with sublime views out to Mokoia Island. Travelled with two other couples so got to see their rooms which were equally as gorgeous as ours. The whole place is beautifully decorated with antiques and contemporary pieces lending it a warm, homely atmosphere. Also excellent food! Loved the private dining spaces too. Waiting hopefully for another ‘Luxury Escape’ offer so that I can book in again!

Decided to take a luxury weekend away to use some of our credit from Luxury Escapes. As Rotorua is close to home we chose this beautiful and delightful spot on the lake. Peppers has amazing grounds and colonial style building. Our room was large and set out beautifully. There are pet miniature horses, donkeys and sheep - pick up some carrots from the kitchen and wonder down to feed them, they are so friendly! A tennis court is available to use if you feel like some exercise. Our room was next door to the breakfast room. In the room we had a capsule coffee maker, plunger, tea bags and a few pieces of fruit and biscuits. Our suite was made up of 4 rooms - a small lounge, bedroom, shower room and bathroom with a spa bath. We paid extra for a view of the lake which was wonderful, so could wake up in the morning and enjoy the view... except for the second morning when people arriving for a early brunch (?) parked right in our way (luckily they cannot see in with the one way glass windows) There is a delightful lounge/sitting area and formal dinning room in the main entrance to enjoy a seat by the fire and dinner by night. A church is also situated in the garden and worth a look and to take photos - amazing view !

Pro’s- picturesque, clean, attention to detail, staff are lovely and attentive and the food is to die for - compliments to the chef.

Cons - the bed is very firm and pillows not to my liking. Very expensive but worth while for a very special occasion.

Hello. thank you so very much for taking the time to write and in such detail Fantastic to read about how much your enjoyed the property.

We apologise about the guests parking out front, we endeavour to avoid this and do ask guests to refrain from doing so, however just sometimes this is not adhered to.

I will pass on your lovely comments and compliments to the Chef re your dining experience. I cannot recall having the comment about the bed before, and I guess it is a personal preference, we do have a variety of pillows we could have offered, sorry we did not manage to communicate that to you during your stay.

We hope that this did not take away from the overall visit and experience you had with us.

Kind regards

Ann

We were absolutely blown away by the view when we drove in. The building is unique, well maintained given the age, very special, and displays a lot of history.

If I could give a 4.5 I would, however I cannot and do not believe it deserves a full 5 stars. We do not mind dogs and have them at home, but this is certainly the last place either of us would have expected to be greeted by an yapping little dog, which is why I am only giving it a 4.

Over our time here we dined in house and went to a few other local places. If you get the chance to dine in and have the English chef cook for you, I would highly recommended it.

We loved getting to walk around and explore this amazing property. The ladies who look after the grounds were only too happy to take us to meet the animals, which we thoroughly appreciated.

Despite the pooch, we have told our friends about our stay and they have booked in for a few days in the new year.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your stay with us at Peppers on the Point.

Wonderful to hear about your dining experience and will pass on your compliments to Ali , the Chef I believe you are referring to.

The puppy you refer to is not a usual resident at the lodge, and I apologise if this upset you, he is my own puppy in training. I am glad however you enjoyed meeting the other animals on the property and enjoyed walking the grounds.

Thank you for referring others to stay and looking forward to meeting them in the New Year.

Kind regards

Ann
