We stayed at the lovely Clover Downs for a total of three nites. We had only planned and reserved two nites but then when it was raining on the last day and we decided not to go zip lining, we modified our two week trip to swing back through Rotorua so we could fit in the zip lining and we were fortunate enough to be able to book a room for one more night at Clover Downs.
As we are "country folk" we were so happy to find Clover Downs which felt quite like home. Just a short drive out of Rotorua you are definitely in the country with calves just outside your deck and goats and even a fawn! Rolling greens hills and nothing but peace and quiet.
Our room was huge with a dining table within the room which we took advantage of as Ruth served us breakfast in our room as we were the only guests for the first night. The breakfast was delicious with fresh eggs from her chickens!
When we returned for our third night's stay the weather was beautiful and we spent time reading outside on her HUGE patio overlooking the rolling green hills.
The beds were most comfortable, beautiful linens and a small refrigerator for cold food storage. The second visit we were greeted with freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies. Yum! She even sent us off with a few more for the road.
Ruth is a wonderful host and very fun to spend time with just talking. We highly recommend Clover Downs as the bed and breakfast of choice while visiting Rotorua.
