I appreciate the hotel is themed in a specific way…
The entrance is cute-true to the era, inviting. Staircase has some impressive heritage!.

We were in the pohutakawa room, first floor, front of the building. Quiet street outside.
Decor woeful.
Dirty-actually. Very dusty bedside table, ripped fabric on the bedside lamp which was more creepy than tasteful.
Ripped carpet in the bedroom, dirty wardrobes (only there for 1 night so didn’t need to use them.
Stained ironing board.
Snagged curtains. Dirty black end of bed runner-thing.
Stain on the pillow.

Lots of dirt where the carpet abuts the scurtain board in the hall.

I mean decor is a matter of taste but cleanliness should be a minimum standard in a hotel. And this one is not cheap!

Location; excellent. Right by Government gardens, restaurants, Spa’s etc.

Restaurant next door-was nice- salad questionable but the other food looked nice.

Good continental breakfast with a selection of hot stuff.

Did not use the pool-actually did not realise it existed until breakfast in the day.

Poor mask wearing from hotel staff.

Excellent location in walking distance to many of the town’s attractions with Government Gardens just across the road and Eat Street 5 minutes walk away. Rooms are very clean and staff are friendly. Room was a little bit tired looking but was spacious. Would stay here again.

Stayed one night. Accommodation was in thier adjacent building. Nice courtyard entrance to these units. Very well appointed one bedroom suite. Everything you'd expect and want and nicely decorated. Quiet and close to all the city has to offer. Great people and refreshingly reasonable price.

Right in Town and across from Government House and Gardens for your evening stroll.
The team are super helpful and friendly plus the food and cocktail were perfect. Love having the Pianist playing in the background which just adds to the old world atmosphere.

Room tip: Love the designer decorated rooms.
