My wife and I spent 5 nights there in April and enjoyed the experience. Beautiful grounds with great views. Perfect locations to access all Rotorua sights as well as perfect location for day trips around the Bay of Plenty and beyond. Louise and Mark were very helpful with recommendations for food and activities.

Doolan's Country Retreat is in a rural setting approximately 20 minutes outside Rotorua. The setting of Doolan's beats anything in Rotorua hands down. The Country Retreat is a large and fabulous home on a hilltop overlooking the countryside and Lake Rotorua. In the evening, we would sit outside and watch the sunset. Louise is an outstanding hostess in all respects. She makes you feel at home, prepares a delicious breakfast to your liking, and is a wealth of knowledge about the area. The sun room and sitting room are great places to relax, mingle with other guests, and read. Our room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and exquisite linens. We came for one-night and ended up staying three-nights! Great place to stay.

Louise is a wonderful hostess. She and her husband make you want to stay longer. The property and the grounds are as unique and gorgeous as you would expect from this 5 star facility. We were welcomed warmly and we got settled. You just gave to take this place in.
It is just far enough out of town you don't have the sulpher smell but close enough to come back and take a break. Our room and the whole place is decorated beautifully.
Breakfasts were to order and delicious. The host are very knowledgeable about shoppong, activities and things in the area. Very helpful. We cannot wait to come back again.

This is a five star B &B with everything one could want from amenities to excellent food and warm and welcoming hosts. The facilities are top notch inside and out. The views are to die for and the hospitality is just as great. Our hosts helped us with recommendations for activities, restaurants and shopping and each recommendation was spot on.
Awesome architecture was an added bonus for this high end unique property!

We liked this B&B on the outskirts of Rotarua.
It's a ten minute drive from Rotarua and is located on a large tract of land with sheep, donkeys and other farm animals.
The hosts were informative and the breakfasts were scrumptious.
