It may not be the kind of thing you would imagine yoursek doing but you will be surprised. Can't recommend highly enough.
We only decided to do claybird shooting to fill in some time before an appointment. It turned out to be the highlight of our week in NZ.
The guys went out of their way to make sure we were on time for our appointment and lived up to the country's reputation for great service.
The range faces the sheer mountainside and the setup is a perfect design. It is fairly new but these boys will do with the extra string to their now.
Each of us shot 25 rounds with an over and under shotgun, a pump action shotgun, and a semi-automatic shotgun.
Instructions and tips were so good we were hitting targets straight away.
The claybirds are high vis pink discs flung up in the air by machine. There are several places where they launch from giving different degrees of difficulty, especially when the next one is launched as soon as you fire (with the semi automatic).
All care is taken with safety and ear plugs are supplied. If you follow the instructions you won't notice the recoil much. However, you may want to do the 25 rounds and see how it goes. With more time I would gladly have done more and will be very keen to go back.
This is a seriously good experience that everyone should do at least once in their life.
