Friendly but Tired Complex

Review of Boulevard Motel
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 25 Oct 2020via mobile
We stayed 3 nights over labour weekend. The stay was pleasant - room well serviced (they made our beds and washed our dishes while we were out biking for the day). Inside the units is everything you need but the paintwork is needing a refresh, actually the whole thing inside needs a refresh. The complex must be a nightmare to maintain as everything else very old.
We had a great stay. There were 2 TVs in our unit (1 in bedroom). The wifi was good - a bit slow for uploads but okay for a free service.

The main swimming pool was clean and pleasant to swimming but the tiling looks grotty as tiles are falling out and there are holes where the mouldy grout has rotted away.

The mineral pools I cleaned regularly and we are nice to soak in but once again the decor leave something to be desired.

The car park area is very tight.

Certainly it’s a great budget option to be so central with all the facilities you need.
Would I stay again - not sure - Next time we will probably look at paying a bit more for something a bit more modern.

Can’t thank our host enough for our lovely stay. Amenities were good, loved the mineral pools which were well maintained. Great room with a nice view of mountain and user friendly spa which we made good use of. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff . Would definitely stay again :)

Stayed in their 3-bedroom unit for a week. The unit was a really good size and clean but the whole complex needs refurbishment. Everything was just a bit old and in need of refreshing. WiFi was terrible and well below standard expected of accommodation. Rooms were serviced well. Tariff was pricy and expected a much higher standard of accommodation for the price.

This place is very overpriced and frankly awful. The front door doesn't open, you have to go through the back. The paint work is flaking on the walls, furniture, heaters. The carpets are stained. The toilet had poo stains. The seating in the lounge area is really uncomfortable especially seeing I have a broken leg and have to have it up. The car park doesn't have enough parks and they are so tight and 'normal' person would struggle to get into the car let alone someone like me. Lastly, why would you not try to create at least some feeling of luxury by having a TV in the bedroom when the seating area is so uncomfortable. For 160 a night it's a dive.

Have stayed here many times and it’s always great. Hosts are super and nothing is too much trouble. Within walking distance to Central Mall and restaurants. Grandson loved the pool and their mineral pools are wonderful and relaxing. Will always go back when we are in Rotorua

Thankfully looked at the rooms before paying. The Information centre sent us here. Noisy location. The rooms were awful and very overpriced. Thermal pools shabby. Whole complex needed a basic Reno at least. Don’t stay here.
