Very worthwhile visit to the Treaty Grounds which provided a very thorough and balanced view on some of the challenges of the past between the locals and the invaders. Worth paying for the cultural experience.

This place is beautiful in the sunshine, you can look out onto the bay of islands from the flagstaff and treaty grounds.
A lot of history in the walking tour, which was also fun.
This is a must do cultural experience whilst in Bay of Islands

We knew nothing about the history of the Mauri and the British treaty when we arrived but by the time we left, we felt like we had walked with the Mauri people and the British settlers. The tours were thorough and interesting (even my 15 and 18 year old teenagers found it fascinating)! The museum is a must see. I thought i was only going to be there an hour but ended up staying the whole day! A must do!
