The motel is in a good location in Paihia, only a few minutes walk from the seafront (but so is everything). The motel looks a little tired, my unit had some unusual renovation features (see picture). No A/C, but the building itself is cool inside and windows can be opened. WiFi is included, but was very unreliable in my unit. Self service laundry available between 10 - 17 hrs at a cost. Very helpful staff, but sometimes hard to get hold of. I would probably not stay there in really hot weather.
We just spent three nights here and we loved Paihia. The hotel offers great space and convenience for the price but it is a little dated. That being said, the owner Rochine couldn't have been any nicer and more accommodating. We would stay here again for the location, space and price.
Location is good in that it is quiet and only a short walk to shops and supermarket. Watangi grounds and ferry to Russell is a short drive away. We had the unit on 2nd floor which was nice though the access is via a staircase at the back of the block. Lodge Manageress seems very busy as we only saw her at check-in.
Very well located just a short walk to shops & wharf for boat trips. Kitchen, laundry with dryer close to rooms. Hosts very nice & nothing was too much trouble. Would stay again. No air con, no screens on windows or doors.
This motel is an older style building that has completed some upgrades but in need of some further tlc. The host & cleaning staff were pleasant & helpful. Units were kept clean but the shower units need anti slip mats or strips to prevent slippage on the shower floor. Our unit was #2 on the bottom & when people flushed the toilet or showered above you, you could hear the water running down the pipes all the time, not pleasant during the night while sleeping. You could walk to the downtown & waterfront area of Paihia which was very convenient. Unit could use some upgrading.
