“Chocolate Heaven”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2017

We went to Silky Oak on a tour from a cruise ship. The coach was met by a smiling lady with a tray full of chocolates for us to try - delicious. We then went in to the factory to be shown how the chocolates are made which was fascinating.

A visit to the chocolate museum followed where we found out that one Pope thought the chocolate drink so horrible he decreed it could be drunk during Lent!

There are several shops on the site, with a gift shop as well as the necessary chocolate shop. We bought chocolates that were not cheap, but were wonderful allowing us to relive the visit over several careful days! We did not go to the cafe, but understand from others on the trip that the food and drink there was excellent.

All in all a great stop on the tour - and we were given more chocolates as we left.

It sounds like you had a fantastic time all round, which is how it should be when on holiday. Which the memories were no doubt relived with each chocolate, heaven.

“Delicious Food at the Cafe and then Temptation Awaits!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2017

We visited this lovely attraction after visiting the Gannet Colony in the morning. We were a group of 6 and arrived towards the end of the traditional lunch hour. The cafe offers some wonderful on the premises made food which is beautifully presented and served to your table as you would want it -with a smile and without any long wait. There is sucha good range of food that I could have stayed for afternoon tea as well but the rest of the group wanted to see the Chocolate Museum. On entering the shop we were welcomed with a smile and a free sample of home made chocolate. Immediately we were snared! A very informative museum of chocolate that begins with history Aztecs, Montezuma, West African ( Ghanaian) cholcolate beans that then captures your childhood memories. If you are from the UK and you visit when there are others form the Uk listen out for " I remember that advert on the television" or "I don't remember that one /we never go that in Britain" Even better I bet you can't resist singing along with the adverts that stem from your childhood.
A very good gift shop offering a range of goods souvenirs to take back ( if you avoid eating them before you get back to the UK).
Lovely staff good quality products well worth a visit BUT i guess when the cruise ships are in it might be a bit busy. We were lucky it was relaxed when we were there!

“The best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 March 2017

Was staying with my sister in Napier and this is her favourite stop as she is a chocoholic. We had the best iced coffee I have ever tasted my sister an iced chocolate and my partner a banana smoothie. They have also two shops on site selling local produce and I purchased some wooden salad servers and my sister from the other craft shop a small bag which she had been looking for to carry her phone and purse for work both items were reasonably priced.

Your sister obviously has good taste, as the iced coffees, along with the iced chocolate drinks are simply the best. I am sure you will remember your visit each time you use the salad servers. Thank you for visiting us.

“What a treat!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 March 2017 via mobile

What do you want to do? Indulge your chocolate taste buds? Eat good food for lunch? Shop for interesting things? Put some time away for a stop here. I took away some sherbet fudge and have just had it with a cup of tea. Stop by, linger and treat yourself.

We try to cater to most (if not all people) with the variety of things to see and do here at Silky Oak. We are really pleased that you have obviously enjoyed being with us, and that Sherbet fudge is yummy.

“What A Treat”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2017 via mobile

The moment our bus arrived at Silky Oaks we were met by one of the owners with samples of chocolate for everyone. Then we went into the shop to see how the chocolates were made and to hear the history of the business. We were able to visit their museum that told the history of chocolate production by companies like Hershey's. Before leaving we had a chance to purchase from the many varieties and flavors of candies and fudge. Silky Oaks was a treat in more ways than one.
