We have stayed here for the second time und again a hearty arrival! We have felt again very comfortable.
This B&B is a bit aside of the town center, but within walking distance. The rooms are beautiful and comfortably equipped. Should there be anything you need additionally they will do their very best to fix and arrange it. Even though the rooms are near to the street we felt not disturbed of traffic noise.
In the hallway you will find complimentary coffee and tea facilities, delicious cakes, chocolate, glasses, a fridge and also brochures of the area and city maps. If you are not sure what to do in the area, no problem Wendy and Peter are having a lot of tipps and maybe they make you a plan for a whole day, within great restaurant recommendations.
The breakfast is really very good, delicious and wide. If you prefer a cooked breakfast we recommend „Peters Special“.
We are chosing B&B´s for our holidays to have direct contact with the hosts and other guests. It is the best way to exchange each other and to receive a lot of informations about everything. And this B&B is in our opinion the best choice for having conversation in a really comfortable and nice way because they both are very nice people/hosts and they are giving us bit like feeling at home. They both offer each guest on the arriving day (if you want to) a glass of wine and appetizers.

Wendy and Peter are incredibly kind, friendly and generous hosts. They really went above and beyond -- they offered to take us to the airport (since we dropped off our rental car early) and even gave me medicine for my husband, when they heard he wasn't feeling well.

Also, breakfast was delicious! We both got a smaller version of Pete's special, which was still huge by the way, and loved it. It was cooked perfectly and set us up for the rest of the day.

The only thing is, the room we got was right at the front of the house and across from the garage. So we couldn't open the window, and had to keep our curtains drawn, otherwise people entering the house would see us. Also, the door to our bedroom would not lock from the outside. The house felt safe and secure, but we would've felt more comfortable if we had a key to lock our room while we were out.

The house was a bit further away from town than I had expected (based on reviews) so we did use a taxi a few times, but overall, this is an excellent place to stay while in Napier. The rooms are big and spotless. They are well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. I would recommend staying here for people who like to interact with their hosts and get some lovely tips about the area.

Thanks Wendy and Peter!

We stayed for two nights and felt like at home. Wendy & Peter are great hosts, including inviting the guests to have a glass of wine and some bites. Lovely room, and a lot of helpful information about the area. If we ever return to Napier, we will try to come again. Probably the best B&B we stayed in ever.

If in Napier, don't look further in this price range, here is where hospitality was born. Wendy and Peter are the most best hosts you can get.
A restaurant fully booked? They wille use their connections and you will eat at your chosen restaurant. Also they give you great tips which fits you and your interest, and don't forget the afternoon drink with canapés. Awsome.

It was really fun having you both in our home, and thank you for your super comments. We love the time with our guests for the drink and canapes on the evening they arrive as it is such an excellent opportunity to learn about their part of the world and their experiences. Thank you both, we sincerely appreciate you taking the time. Safe travels and best wishes from us both. Wendy and Peter

"When the hosts are kind and helpful it is always difficult to be negative. Wendy and Peter are lovely folks who gave their all." I have lifted that quote from another reviewer who wrote after I made my reservation. I completely agree with what they said. As one who does not travel well, yet do so constantly, (see number of reviews I have written) I hate to arrive late in the afternoon and fairly quickly be asked what I want for breakfast and what time. And, oh, it is to be 8 or 8:30? Decide now, please.. On our second afternoon we were resting around 5:30 pm and woke as our door was being knocked to be asked what we wanted the next morning for breakfast. And, what time?
This B&B has two guest suites, one to right and other to left of center hall with owner's area straight ahead. We were given a key to exterior house door, but oddly our rooms did not have locks or keys (did have bathroom door like locks when in the room), Yet the owner's door (to kitchen, living area and bedroom) not only had lock but a security alarm. We were told to lock house door yet both nights that we came in the door was unlocked, once standing wide open. Additionally, owner's door, was usually shut with exception of when we were due at breakfast or drinks on our first night. We felt that hosts were willing to give us limited "smiles on time" and attention. (Personally, I can't blame them but that attitude is not what being owner's of a B & B should portray).
Also, there was no room other than our room to use. There was a window seat in the bedroom that we put our suitcases on...as it was dreary weather during our visit, we found our selves without a place to comfortably sit for a bit. In conclusion, this was not the place for us and would not recommend it, however, obviously we are alone on this feeling. Everyone has their own expectations, depending on what a traveler is looking for will influence one's rating. It just did not meet our standards of a great B & B..
