Booking was very easy, check in very quick. And the room was more that adequate.
In fact it was like a suite.
Big bedroom. Spa bath. Separate shower. Big bathroom. Huge living room with balcony. Two TVs and a heat pump. Way too much for us but very very comfortable.
Free wifi. Smart tv
We have stayed at the beachfront motel a few years ago and we’re very happy, delighted I fact with our stay, however this time we were surprised and disappointed at how shabby the place was looking, whole place needed a wash down and the inside is starting to need a lick of pain and re grouting, the outside table was an health and safety issues as it was so rusty it wasn’t useable with sharp edges that I was falling apart and the chairs were going the same way , We stayed in room 10 which is extremely noisy due to people stomping down the iron staircase with little to no regard and dragging luggage down with it bouncing from step to step... I was down on business and had the lease of visiting two other motel hotels there and asked to see the room and price lists and for $50 a night less could get a beautiful brand new bathroom and update Kitchenette kingside bed and sea view.... I don’t know if there’s a management change here or what the policy is for filling the rooms but it’s isn’t the place it used to be, sadly... I brought all the issues up with the lady at reception who had a resigned look that suggested she had heard this all before and informed her I wouldn’t mind one bit if management gave me a call for a chat about the issues but have yet to hear from them, I did only check out this morning tho but still.... we paid over $600 for a studio spa room and struggle to see the value here. Chap on checkin was lovely , view is lovely , location is lovely... deferred maintenance needs addressing ASAP .
Lots health and safety issues at this place
Bathroom fan didnt work so with shower over bath hence making floor extremely wet. Tables and chairs on balcony all rusty couldnt use. Seat cushion on metal table chair wasnt attached screws all missing.All hazards for 2 year old.TV didnt work , wallpaper off wall, place very run down and tired looking.On realising this advised reception that night as stayed 2 nights. Advised since only a relief receptionist to come in morn so did that .Still no great interest other than call manager who wasnt there. Left him a message to call but nothing.On coming back to Napier return to this place to talk to manager not really concerned with what telling him only give 50% disc on next stay. Paying $210 per night 2 people expect more not 4 star. But why would you stay with all these issues
I have stayed here a couple of times over the years and love the location.
Even though it was getting tired it always felt clean and functional.
This time I was very disappointed.
Im not sure if standards have slipped with new management?
I noticed the motel was looking very unloved and run down on the outside and my room was not much better.
The towels had threads hanging off them looking very worn. Not just 1 but all. The kitchen tiles were sticky to walk on. There was a massive hole in the net curtains and the wallpaper was peeling badly.
The fridge did not work at all and as I was work stay I take breakfast and make lunch for next day.
Needless to say I did not eat my warm chicken salad.
I stay away alot for work and understand things can need a bit of updating but functioning appliances and clean rooms are must.
I thought if this what I can see visabaly then what can't I see.
It was not a cheap rate so couldn't say get what you pay for either.
I would not recommend this motel.
Really disappointed with this motel, room not cleaned properly with a build up of dust and grime on sideboards and behind bed, rusty table on balcony with actual pieces of rust scattered all over balcony floor, fridge light doesn’t work, fan in bathroom sounds like something died or is dying in it, marks all over walls, edges of carpet threadbare and disintegrating, website spoke of newly refurbished rooms, motel not full yet we’ve been given what is obviously one of their worst (we hope) Wifi doesn’t work in main living area, when we complained to reception (tonight) they kept on saying they’d have someone look at the wifi and that we had to expect the rust given the proximity to the ocean and that they were constantly replacing tables (maybe wood or plastic might work better?!?) but ignored everything else. Laundry looked as if it hasn’t been cleaned in months. We here for another four nights, not a good start to our family holiday for what is meant to be a 4 star hotel which is reflected in the cost, it’s definitely a 2 or 3, the only saving grace is the view and location!
