Frank gave us a tour which felt by the end of the day as if we had spent it with close friends. Having grown up and worked in the region, all questions were easily answered. We had a great day at 4 wineries and a brewery, plus tour of old Napier and viewpoint. Just super!

It was NZ Labour day weekend while we were in NZ and we wanted to do a winetasting tour but most tour firms were closed for the duration. The Information centre contacted Frankly Tours who were working and we booked up. Frank (Heuser) came and picked us up from our hotel and along with a couple of others we set off to find wine. This wasn't difficult because Frank knows the area backwards and is known and warmly received by all the wineries and breweries. Maybe this is because he is the only tour guide in the area to have actually worked in the industry and so knows what he's talking about or that he's just a really nice guy. We visited a number of wineries tasting wonderful wines which we will never see in the UK as the Kiwi's keep them all for themselves (shame). One of the wineries even gave us a platter of nibbles which were most welcome to absorb the alcohol! We them visited a craft brewery where we could chose up to five different beers from dark to pale all cold of course but that didn't matter on a warm day. Frank then took us all back to our hotels so that we could recover. The tour is not just about wine as Frank includes details on places of interest and how Napier has developed making it a well rounded tour (just like the wine). We sadly only did the half day tour but a full day tour of the area and wineries/breweries is available. Thoroughly recommend Frankly Tours if you are In Napier, you won't be disappointed.
