Very clean and friendly hotel. Very dated, but in a nostalgic way The Kitchen and the bathroom has a very 1950s feel to them and the kitchen was well supplied with an authentic 1970s range.
The bed and furniture was more current and the atmosphere nice. There were a few minuses. One being that I suspect this place has either livers (People dumped here by WINZ and housing NZ). One unit had two Indian or Negro men who came out and smoked up a storm every hour. Also the units are very small and the air conditioning is limited to a fan. Buy your own milk too, as you get only a small amount in a nostalgic Crown Lynn container. TV is also the most restricted Freeview with only National channels and 1 or 2 basic sky with the Home shopping and Religious Bigotry channels.
A huge plus is the closeness to the city of Napier and its art deco heritage. As quirky and interesting as it is, this place is very tired and sadly needs an update. The area it is in is a bit sleazy too.
