We have eaten here before on many occasions, although admittedly it has been a while since our last visit, so we are familiar with what to expect from this restaurant and sadly it did not live up to our expectations!
We stated off with a LARGE garlic bread which was $6.99 (rather than a small serving for $3.99). We were shocked to discover that the large was only four pieces of "average" tasting garlic bread, and wondered how many pieces would have been in the small serving?!
As we have done in the past we ordered a pasta dish, but swapped the type of pasta it is usually served with for something else.
We all got the "fettucine" carbonara, rather than the "rigatoni" (small tubes) - which the waitress wrote down, and never questioned our change of pasta so we assumed that is what we would be getting! However, to our surprise we all were given rigatoni (small tubes like penne pasta) carbonara!!
I wanted to say something to the waitress, but my husband said not to as it was our fault for not making it clear and questioning her as she was taking the orders as to what we actually wanted. So we ate our pasta meals, but found them to be dry, and not very saucy - the complimentary bread on the side remained as dry as the pasta as there was no sauce left to mop up! This pasta could almost have come from a packet, but we knew it obviously hadn't!
The waitress remarked at the end of the night when I paid that she was new, I could have guessed that as we also had to ask for wine glasses to be brought out at the start despite her seeing the bottle of BYO wine on the table!
There was a very loud Birthday party eating on the other side of the room, and the volume of noise from their chatter was almost unbearable - perhaps this has something to do with the wooden floors and low ceiling?!
Such a shame about this visit, as it had been one of our favourite (and reliable!) Italian restaurants.
Let's hope this was just an off-night, and it does better if we go here again in the future!
