On a recent Sunday - Father's Day actually. - four of us,a mixed group including my 14 year old Grandson and two International homestay students and me , a retiree , took a 15 minute drive from Hamilton city out to the Taitua Arboratum Well signposted and easy to find I was interested to revisit after a few years absence - We spent A very pleasant hour and a half strolling through the well maintained pathways and grounds and noting the different trees and birds/ animals Happy to see many family groups enjoying the countryside ramble, and a good number taking the family dog ,on a lead ,with them for a walk - A Roosters's Paradise , but all seemingly co-existing happily with many different variety of fowl and water birds , Very bucolic setting with cattle to view behind fences but closeup ,so a very pleasant and interesting afternoon - A great asset to the city and we are fortunate to be able to enjoy this free oasis so nearby and easily accessible that was gifted to us - Thankyou to the Mortimers -

Though I did not meet them last time I was enjoying the arboretum I met them the time before and that will always be the highlight of this very special place.
Been going there for many years and have seen it evolve and change. Lovely as ever

Great place for family walk - plenty of chickens for kids to feed.
Highly recommended as doesn't take too long to wander round with young kids.

But probably best to avoid if its been pouring down because it was a bit muddy. Great for dog walking, or even just a walk on your own, to get away from the business of life as it is very quite and peaceful there.

Nice walk, out in the country. Pretty quiet and don't think it is very well known so good to not be bothered by other people! Lots of nice fruit trees also
