I organized a private group tour for both Auckland and Tauranga with Jim Archer , and he was professional, knowledgeable, personable and very accommodating for our group of 10. His van was comfortable for our group, and with his heritage we all learned a lot.
Thank you Jim, for showing us your beautiful country
It was great !

My brother & I were traveling to Hamilton on short notice and with little free time upon arrival. We found Archer Tours by happenstance, and are so pleased we did. Of three guides we attempted to contact, Archer Tours was the only one to reply. We quickly hashed out desires & set up our tour via email. On the appointed day, Jim Archer was not only punctual, professional, and friendly; he was also extremely knowledgeable about every location we toured & every subject we discussed. Our day tour to the Rotorui area was truly memorable. A working sheep farm, Mauri Cultural Center, geysers & mud pots, lovely city park area, and three breathtaking lakes ... Jim packed a lot of sites into our day. All the while with running commentary & historic insight that only a seasoned local could provide. We couldn't be more impressed with Archer Tours and owner/operator Jim Archer. Strongly recommended!

Today a group of 8 friends from the m/s Amsterdam's 2018 World Tour arranged for a Tour to see the Glow Worms with Jim Archer. Jim arrived at our ship docked in Auckland on time with a clean large comfortable van. Our drive to the Waitomo Caves was 2 hours, but Jim's Van and Commentary, plus a comfort stop made the ride very enjoyable. As an extra treat we visited Kiwi World on the way to the Caves and stopped for Kiwi Ice cream on the way back to the Port. Jim found a nice local restaurant for our lunch at our expense and shops for souvenirs. We highly recommend Jim's services!

After careful research and contacting people on TripAdvisor who had used Archer Tours, we decided to hire Jim for our 17 night tour of the North and South Islands. We made the right choice! From our first contact with him it was obvious that he knows and loves his country. We used his North and South Island itinerary as a guide and then modified it a bit to meet the needs and interests of our group of 6. Jim offered good advice on places we considered adding and together we came up with a trip that met and exceeded expectations

Our overnight stops included Auckland, Rotorua, Napier, Wellington, Kaikoura, Christchurch, Franz Josef via the Trans Alpine Express, Queenstown, an overnight on Doubtful Sound and Lake Tekapo before heading back to Christchurch for our flight. The itinerary included a good balance of cities and beautiful countryside with many interesting stops along the way. Akaroa, a small French waterside town was one of our favorites. Hotels were of good quality, some excellent. In a few places we had to change our hotel because of large groups but I believe the substituted hotels were definitely to our advantage and I'm sure cost Jim more! We also decided to upgrade to the Heritage Hotel in Christchurch which I highly recommend if you're there at any time other than high season (summer months).

I can't say enough nice things about Jim. He is the ultimate professional. His flexibility and humor made our 17 days the trip of a lifetime but, above all, his knowledge of New Zealand will make your trip one to remember. We started the trip as clients and ended as friends.

Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information.

We highly recommend Archer Tours. We left from Hamilton with our 3 year old child for a tour of Hobbiton and Waitomo Glowworm Caves. The tour was punctual and Jim was so helpful coordinating tickets and times. It was a great experience all around!!

My colleague and I selected Archer tour from a plethora of available tours and hoped for the best. We were not disappointed! Jim (the owner) was easy to get in contact with and he more than accommodated our requests as regards time for departure, pick-up site etc. We were picked up at our accommodations, at a time of our choice. Our great guide/driver, Graham, was friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable about all sites to and from Hobbiton. He took us to several sites both on the way there and back, which was lovely as we got to see the beautiful countryside. We stopped at beautiful locations and had plenty of time to take photos. We arrived at Shire's Rest about 15 minutes before our tour time of 11:15 am. Here we were met by our Hobbition tour guide, Hayden, for an informative 2 hour tour around the movie set location. Hayden gave us a lot of background information on the film and the set and helped people with photographs. It was interesting to hear details of how Hobbiton was made, and the many little detail issues that cropped up during filming. Before ending the Hobbiton movie set tour we stopped for a beer at the Green Dragon Inn (included in the price). It was also possible to have a bite to eat here, as they done various dishes such as pies, chips, scones and so on (not included in the price). Hobbiton delivers everything you expect and more. Graham took us back to Hamilton safely. This tour was well worth the time and price. It was a great tour all around!
