We are Americans travelling down to Waitomo Caves, we wanted a comfortable overnight stay for family of 4. We had a 2-bedroom apartment. The hotel is on a strip of many motor lodges--not much to look at from the outside and at first gave the impression of being shabby. But on closer inspection of the room everything was brand new - - impeccably clean refrigerator and dishes, towels, bathroom was delightful, with excellent water pressure and heat, super good hair dryer. I particularly liked the shampoo and bath gel -- not the usual Suave shampoo as in most hotels. Two flat screen TVs. The management was kind enough to turn on the heat in advance of our arrival. The rooms were quiet. Also a nice touch was the free pint of milk to go with the in-room packets of coffee and hot chocolate (plunger coffee). Beds were super comfortable.
There is wi-fi in the room but complimentary coupon gives you about only 200 mb so we used the internet only to look up driving directions and a restaurant.
The front desk people were not from around here, so they could not make any restaurant recommendations. There is a Guide Book in the room with restaurants and takeaway menus, but we found it too late. (FYI we went to the Keystone)
Thanks for the great stay!
