Owner description: Explore an enchanting world of secret gardens. Transport yourself through time and to far-flung corners of the world. Meander through a lush tropical jungle, visit ancient China and indulge yourself in a Renaissance Prince's 16th century garden. Five garden collections have been created to delight the senses, with some garden concepts reaching back 4,000 years. Hamilton Gardens is a conceptual garden based in the Waikato that explores the context, history and meaning of gardens through time, and from around the world. It is internationally recognised for its unique concept and is the Waikato region's most popular tourist destination. Only five minutes drive from Hamilton's CBD, the Gardens is open 7 days a week during daylight hours and entry and parking is free. Access is off SH1, alongside Cobham Drive on the southern side of Hamilton.

“Always make time to visit”
Reviewed 11 September 2015 via mobile

If I'm passing through Hamilton, and there is any time to spare, I'll call into the gardens. They are beautiful, well designed, relaxing and inspiational.

You need more than an hour to begin to appreciate the different garden styles. Some people take picnics.. others just walk.

Just go.. you won't regret it

“Don't miss the world's gardens all gathered in Hamilton.”
Reviewed 4 September 2015

Magnificent. If you have time and energy, walk there - mostly by the river - but there are bus services as well. The gardens of the world are a delight, there is a lake as well as a view of the river, you can get drinks, light meals, ices and gift-stuff from the cafe and shop areas, and wander through plants for as long as energy and interest allow. Oh and there were several kids when I was there so I'd say it would work as a picnic day out destination too.
