Beautiful Views

We overnighted in Gisborne. The Senator Motor Inn was just what we needed. It was centrally located with a beautiful view of the river and boats. The room was clean, well appointed and the balcony provided a ideal place to enjoy our morning coffee and river views. The inn was situated across the street from a river bike trail that looked very appealing.

Lovely room on the ground floor. It was well appointed and super clean, staff were very friendly. The only two issues I had were: not enough places to keep my clothes and vanity dry in the bathroom as it was wet floor design and couldn't turn the outside light off and it shone into the room and disturbed my sleep (not my husbands though!).

We had a room on the first floor. The room was spacious and clean and ahd a nice balcony. The bedroom is inside and extremely dark in the night. If you're used to a bedroom with a window you may find the darkness irritating. We didn't and slept very well. The location is good near the marina and nice restaurants and shops are in walking distance. Recommended.

Our apartment was upstairs with a balcony overlooking the harbour and facing the rising sun in the morning. It was in a relatively quiet street, but close to the centre of town. The facilities were excellent, and there was a good restaurant virtually next door.
The motel is also close to the site of Cook’s landing across the harbour and the new Maori memorial, as well as the wonderful view from the hilltop above.
Very well recommended

Although this was a business trip and booked via a corporate agency it was a great place to stay. It is handy to town and a short walk to a few restaurants. We had an upstairs unit which gave us a fantastic view. The best aspect was eating breakfast (continental ordered from reception) on the deck watching two beautiful sunrises over the river each morning of our stay. Large roomy accommodation with a comfy bed, sofa and also indoor table and chairs. Shower over bath with good pressure but must say the liquid soap and shampoo dispensers leave me cold. What is wrong with cake soap. This is meant to be an environmental thing but we got fresh towels when we had hung them up as indicated if we did not want them changed. Is any notice taken if this? I deliberately left our recycled rubbish out of the bin so it could easily be recycled only to be told by the cleaner that they sort it themselves later. I personally don’t think anyone should have to sort someone else’s rubbish from a bin. It also made me wary of what I put out as rubbish knowing that someone would potentially be going through it later. A simple solution is to have a rubbish and recycling container clearly marked in each unit.
Newspaper delivery did not seem to be an option but papers were available at reception. Reception staff were polite but not overly friendly.

Handy to city within walking distance to most places, city, harbour, beaches, cafes, restaurants etc. Handy to river walk way, with lovely views from second floor. Clean and fresh. We have stayed several times at the Senator, my favorite. Thank you.
