We stumbled across this little restaurant after a lunch at Te Whau and went back the following day. With a choice of one dish only and a glass of wine we were truly delighted to be served the freshest plate of figs, cheese, freshly roasted walnuts, salad and bread with a drizzle of raspberry dressing.

The meal reminded us of simple French country food - with a focus on flavour and simplicity. The view is stunning.

Highly recommended.

Frenchmans Hill Estate is for the true wine buff. Its small, intimate, with only a single excellent plat du jour available for eating. You go here for the wine. We have a case of 15 bottles on its way to the UK as we write. We still have two bottles of the Blend of 8 cellared from last year for tasting in the future. Luc Desbonnets is the winemaker who arguably makes the best wine on the island, if not New Zealand.
If you are a true wine connoisseur, and going to Waihike the island of great wines, then you will have wasted your visit if you do not try a tasting here. You have been warned!

One of the few wineries we visited and I never our top 3. Fantastic hosts, awesome wine and the atmosphere was so relaxing, we didn’t want to leave. Didn’t get to try the platters as we’d already eaten but they looked great. Will be back again for sure

Must visit vineyard on Waiheke. In my humble opinion the best wine on the island, best hosts and stunning location.

Having been unable to get into our first choice due to a private function we decided to stop here for a late lunch and so glad we did! The Syrah is world class and the platter to accompany it equally superb. Yes it is expensive but you absolutely get what you pay for! The setting is divine and the service is fantastic!
