Havent been to Sails for a few years but was looking for a venue with a view and varied menu so headed along on a Sunday evening. I had a multi course tasting menu and my partner taking advantage of the venue went straight for the crayfish Main.
My 6 course menu was varied and thoughtful and consisted of:
Goats curdbrick pastry, textures of beetroot, date, walnut, verjus
“Ika mata”market fish, lemon, pickled onion, red chilli, coconut, coriander
Venison tatakijerusalem artichoke, sour cherry, cocoa, watercress
Duck breastduck leg confit, sweet potato, plum, cavolo nero, radicchio
Beefcauliflower, kale, onion, truffle jus
Warm chocolate fondantpistachio ice cream, coffee
Partner enjoyed the Crayfish Mornay and said it was a large enough meal for her - I was super hungry so added a Fisherman’s soup withprawn tails, tuatua, fish gnocchi, tomato, fennel as well.
Fellow diners appeared to be enjoying themselves and the staff were always on hand.
Great venue with views over Westhaven Marina, extensive wine and boutigue beer list, the service was efficient and non intrusive and I liked the decorated dessert, a nice touch to the evening.
I would recommend Sails as a venue for a couple or group that wish to take their time sampling the wide and varied menu whilst enjoying the pleasant outlook across the marina.
