We arrived in Auckland yesterday evening and were looking on TripAdvisor for a good place to eat some local NZ food at a reasonable price. Several previous reviews mentioned the excellent friendly service, the slow cooked shoulder of lamb (shared between two) and delicious local wine. We got all three of those things - absolutely fantastic food, c$100 for the two of us.

Tips:
- The two-person lamb was $62, so at $31pp is the same sort of price as, or slightly cheaper than, the steaks, and you get a whole shoulder. Great value and delicious: it melted off the bone.
- If you want to bring your own wine, corkage is $7.50 and there is a wine shop directly over the road (can’t miss it!)

Came for lunch with a group of friends, restaurant is clean and nice, staff were friendly and service was quick.

Food was excellent and they have a great lunch deal so it’s really worth it.

Would definitely recommend to others.

It was not full when we were there but I can imagine it would get quite loud in there when it does as the restaurant is not that big. We had a couple next to us make a comment about our noise levels when we were not that loud.

Great atmosphere, comfortable and great service. The chef made a special point to say hello and our kids loved it. They catered for allergies and were accommodating for our children. Highly recommend this place.

I can't rave enough about this place. We were met at the door for our dinner reservation by the maitre de and shown to our seats inside the restaurant. No sooner had we sat down than we were offered a table at the window and we eagerly took up this offer. The restaurant is exceptionally clean. My partner commented that she was happy to let her bag sit on the immaculate floor...which is usually a no no in any cafe because of the dirty state there. The restaurant is not noisy so you can actually hold a conversation there and be heard with out the usual screaming session which is necessary when other patrons have had a few drinks. The meal was one of the best we have had anywhere, yet alone Auckland. We made a mistake and had a delicious shared entree (whitebait fritters). A mistake because when the main meal arrived it proved our eyes were larger than our capacity to eat the meal provided.
The main meal was the 8 hour slow roasted lamb shoulder. It seems this is a dish people actually seek this restaurant out for. I can see why. The presentation was exquisite. The lamb was moist and perfectly done with a very nice jus.
My partner thought that she might just be able to squeeze in a dessert. I have no idea how, but she managed the best Tiramisu imaginable with a side of coffee flavoured icecream. A great meal in perfect surroundings. Well done the team!!!

We had been recommended to try this restaurant by the owners of the B & B where we were staying. Now sometimes this can be a letdown, friends run the restaurant and all that, but not in this case.
The restaurant is situated on Parnell Road, hence the name, on the street front. a narrow frontage opens up a little at the rear. Atmosphere is modern, pleasant and convivial but can be very noisy when all tables are occupied. Service was excellent and friendly. The menu is meat orientated with other dishes of duck, chicken and fish. Prices are what you would expect to pay for a restaurant of this quality and you can take your own wine - bottle shop opposite - a small corkage charge applies.
