After reading a few tripadvisor reviews, we weren't sure what to expect - but knowing the Flying Burrito Brothers in Tauranga, we trusted the "known" and thought we will try the Albany one...very impressed with the food! Fresh, nice, great flavours! Definitely don't hesitate to go there!

I've walked past this restaurant on a few occasions and avoided it on the basis that Mexican restaurants in NZ are pretty terrible. Tonight on the spur of the moment we gave this place a try.

The food was much better than I was expecting. The portion sizes were good and the service was friendly if trying a little too hard (we were asked too many times if everything was good). The dishes are very mild though, insulting mild really, and this is a let down for a restaurant like this. They have a chilli-heat guide for each dish and then deliver their "hot" dishes cooked to be "very mild". They have sauces on the table including yukatan habanero sauce - this is a billion times spicer than their food which is not to say this sauce is hot (it's a common Mexican table sauce after all), but rather their food as I say is insulting mild.

The decor in the restaurant is pleasant enough with a touch of a rustic atmosphere. The tables are too small really with a sitting for four being based off of a table designed to sit two.

Overall we enjoyed our meal and will eat here again from time to time.

I was excited that I may have finally found a real Mexican restaurant in Auckland. Bu it was very very mediocre , best if i made it at home, since the whole point of eating out is to experience something that home doesn't do.

The Churros were not churros.. poooorly presented, very small and thrown on a plate. I give these a ZERO.

Chicken nachos were delicious 8/10 -- minus 2 for no guac

The enchiladas tasted like a slab of cinnamon... that is NOT enchilada sauce. ZERO

quesadillas were very bland.. very small... 3/10

and what's up with Mexican restaurants here charging extra for guacamole for nachos... and i dont mean we wanted extra guac.. I mean the guac doesn't exist.

Hi
Thanks for your feedback. Very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy the food. At any point, did you inform any staff or manager that you were not happy or satisfied with your meals? Since, it looks that you did not enjoy most of it?
The enchilada sauce that you are referring to is one of the most authentic mexican mole sauce with numerous ingredients and if you didnt like we would have offered you an alternative. Do let us know the details if your visit so we can investigate the guacamole and the churros with our kitchen team. Our food is based on local pallette and we provide hot table sauces to anyone who wishes to add a bit more heat.
Would have really appreciated if you had given some feedback in store to fix things there and then rather than going back with a bad experience.
Thanks

Been a couple of times before and was impressed then and had enjoyed food, service and evening. This time food was very average, music too loud and awful background droning noise that sounded like a construction site. Probably won't try it again

Hi
Thanks for your feedback. We are not sure what you found different about the food as our recipes are the same and so are the people making them.
Will make a note about the music and see how we can get better on that.
Hope to see you again.
Gracias
