We were a family of four adults and wanted to have a central city location. Our flight didn't arrive from Sydney until midnight and so we needed to call the number that the owners provided which was the security person. Our cab driver called ahead and the security guy was there to meet us.
Our apartment consisted of two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the other with two single beds. There was a small bathroom that contained a washer/dryer which we used. The kitchen had a full size refrigerator, stove, microwave, apt. size dishwasher, toaster, tea kettle, pots/pans and table setting for four people. Thank you for the bottle of sparkling wine and milk in the refrigerator.
The minimum stay is for three days and there is no maid service. We needed to empty our own trash and pick up before we checked out.
Security is tight here. An electronic key is needed to enter the building, the elevator and the different levels.
There is a small balcony with a patio table and four chairs. It rained most of the time so we really didn't use it.
The ferry to Waiheke Island is very close and also our favorite restaurant, the Foodstore. There is a Countdown grocery store about .5 mile away.
Our flight didn't leave until the evening and check out was at 11:00. We were told to go to the Information Center at the entrance to the Prince's Wharf. Rates were supposed to be $5NZ for half a day and I think $10-11 NZ for a whole day. The guy at the Information Center said that they really only take a small piece of luggage and we had three suitcases plus some carry on luggage. I had a $20 NZ in my hand and he looked at it and said the $20 would do, clearly overcharging two times over. He put our luggage behind a partial partition which was not secure at all and we just hoped our luggage would be back when we returned. There was a long line when we came back so we just took our luggage and no one noticed. Not the best way to store luggage.
Also, wifi is not included in the rental price which I really think should be included. It is $8NZ per day.
