We stayed at this lovely place for 5 nights and it was just fabulous. It's a solid but very spacious 3 star motor lodge but for $90.00-a bargain. It came with a fully equipped kitchen, spacious bedroom and bathroom.Cable TV and a backyard area made for kicking the footy or backyard cricket. The owner is a lovely woman and her little dog is so cute.We had many a laugh watching our kids chase the dog who had stolen the cricket ball many times during the game! They offer a washing service but I think there might also be a guest laundry also. There is a pub opposite and the food is reasonably priced but slightly higher quality than most pub fare-try the lamb shanks-yum yum.
A grocer 5 mins down the road and also a bakery. We also enjoyed the roast place (at the owners suggestion) near the mobil service station-cheaper than the pub and amazing roast food-they do take away. There is a commonwealth ATM near this roast place too-on the same side as the pub just further down. This small town is 30 mins from Auckland but quiet, peaceful and fully equipped if you want to self cater. There is a playground across the road too.We were there under difficult circumstances-a death in the family and the staff and owner were so kind to us.My children flew over and we occupied an upstairs and downstairs flat.If I ever have to come to Pukekhoe or Auckland I would stay here again in a heartbeat. It's not luxury but very ,very comfortable and has everything you need.Downstairs apartments have a balcony for smokers too and it's lovely to sit out there and just look at the greenery. The dog will beg you to throw the ball-highly amusing!!
