This is one of Auckland’s most fabulous dining experiences for authentic, quality, home made Italian food in a vibrant setting.
Staff are excellent and attentive, and the restaurant is relaxed but has a local feel.
The food is the star. And there is so much that is so fabulous. The thinly spiced tuna with burrata was excellent. Tasty, refined and delicious.
The pasta is out of this world. The Cappellaci alla zucchini with sage and roasted pine nuts was extraordinary. One of the best pasta dishes I’ve eaten anywhere. Soft pasta encased smoked ricotta, and the texture and flavour burst of sage and pinenuts burst through. Pasta is made on site which can be seen in the large open plan kitchen.
The meatballs are also home made and the crayfish meatballs with pumpkin, smoked butter and pistachio salsa was amazing. Fresh, rich and flavoursome.
The sirloin steak was excellent and cooked to perfection-even the small green salad was quality and the balsamic dressing was sweet and tasty. There are so many desserts, I spotted a pear extravaganza in the kitchen and immediately ordered it. Perfectly sliced pieces of pear sit in custard with a biscuit dressing-perfect in winter. And the chocolate dessert was as stylishly presented as it was mouth wateringly decadent with quality chocolate and a rich creamy texture. What an amazing night out. Can’t wait to go back.
