Situated as the name suggests, next to the beautiful Parnell Rose garden. About a 30 minute walk from Britomart train station or 10 minutes on the 755 bus.
Check in, was a strange affair, the young lady clearly missed the charm school bit of her training as we found her quite sharp and abrupt, however I will say, most, if not all of her colleagues did attend. But I will say, “first impressions are lasting.” The room, on the ground floor, so subject to a bit of road noise, was large and airy, nice big, bed, but as seems normal in NZ, slightly soft. The shower/wet room was nice and large, but strangely a large step to the shower.
The tv had many channels, which included sports channels.
Breakfast was a buffet, with a typical, NZ/Aus selection of tinned pears & peaches, but also included fresh fruit, yogurts, bread, pastries etc… hot food included sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs hash browns and and orientalist selection. Fried and poached eggs available to order.
One other frustrating incident, on one day, our rooms not serviced, we’d left the towels on the shower floor, so couldn’t really re-use them, also, we’d used the coffee cups and glasses. We reported this to the reception, who apologised and said they be up shortly… they weren’t, so we took the used towels, cups and glasses to reception on our way to the restaurant. Upon our return, they still weren’t replaced, we had to remind them, when they were replaced, the cups and glasses were not. Again, another trip to reception.
Evening meals at the restaurant were good value and well prepared, and the waiter (didn’t get his name, but should have done, tall with moustache and long hair in a ponytail) gave great customer service.
