Nice hotel, central position.

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 16 Mar 2024via mobile
We stayed 2 nights here before boarding our cruise.
It's in an ideal position for anyone picking a cruise up in Aukland as it's a few minutes walk to the docks.
Also very handy for the city bus tour as the stop was just across the road.
Our hotel room was very nice, spacious, very clean.
All staff were very helpful and friendly.
We had a lovely meal in the restaurant one evening, there is a great view of the harbour from the restaurant.
Breakfast was very nice with most things you can think of to eat for breakfast.
They had a handy launderette which we used.
Recommended for a short stay.

It’s a nice enough hotel but definitely only 4 stars.

They don’t provide bottled water at night. Even 3 star hotels provide bottle water at night.

And if you ring room service and order food and ask for a pitcher of cold water - the answer is no. You have to get it from the bathroom tap yourself. I kid you not !

Lastly we saw the sundae advertised on the tv. It looked amazing so we rang to order it - no they don’t have it. The sundae they sent us was very average.

The room service menu is below par, as was the restraunt menu.

Overall not a great hotel.

Thank you for your review but disappointing to hear we didn't meet your expectations.

Removing all single use plastics is key for Accor hotels on making a change in our environment so we do not provide plastic water bottles however do offer sparkling and mineral water from our mini bar. I have spoken to the team about their sundae's and do apologise that these were not at there usual amazing presentation standards as we always get great feedback on them. Our Boda menu is modern Korean and has locally sourced foods that our chefs are really proud of producing and work tirelessly to offer something unique in the CBD which has over 300 restaurants to choose from.

Thanks again for staying with us.

Stayed here 4 nights on a business trip to Auckland. The office I had to visit was a 5min walk away so it was very convenient to be at Movenpick. Plus the hotel is located near a bunch of excellent restaurants as well.

The room had a city view and was quite spacious. The bathroom looked neat and modern. They can consider providing a few hooks in the bathroom to hang clothes. The bed was comfortable and I had a good sleep. Aircon was efficient and quiet.

My booking included breakfast which was at Boda on the 13th floor with a nice view. The breakfast spread was comprehensive and well stocked and replenished. Eggs are made to order if you osk. The fresh juice machine was a nice way to avoid a mass produced sugar rush.

Overall really nice hotel and worth a return visit.

Amazing staff at check in - very helpful as we had a family with a lot of luggage. Our kids loved the endless ice cream, and the meals in the restaurant were delicious. Also the most comfortable hotel beds we have ever slept in. Our room was quiet (12th floor) with a view of the water. Lovely modern bathroom with large shower.

Our much anticipated 25th wedding anniversary celebrations were clouded by the muddy waters of the sub-standard service of a supposedly 5 star provider of accommodation…
Our delight of revisiting N.Z after 24 years, was usurped by our unpleasant experience with staff.
Our accommodation was comfortable and well presented. We enjoyed our evening meal at the restaurant. What happened following this, however, spoiled our perspective of client services:
Having realised after checking out that we had left two items of clothing behind in the wardrobe, we immediately contacted the hotel to report lost property. It was arranged for collection from the lobby on the morning of our return to Auckland before our departure at the Auckland airport.
Time was of the essence- there was no nearby car parking available, and the lobby carpark was full. It took an extraordinary amount of time for staff to locate our lost property and this was only expedited at my insistence that the items were arranged to be held at reception. Upon receipt of a bag containing our belongings, it was realised that our jumper was returned, but not our coat. This was a $400 coat! I returned to the reception team to ask if my coat could be located…perhaps in another bag? I also reminded staff that we did not have much wait time left as we needed to be at the airport on time. Staff appeared to be unconcerned about our situation and were slow to act. I was kept a minimum of 15 minutes waiting. In frustration, I passed on my contact details and asked to be notified when the coat was located. Meanwhile, my husband received a parking fine for standing too long with, hazard lights on, in a no parking zone on a Sunday morning, when the roads were quiet. This added to our misfortune.
I never received a follow up phone call, although my husband received a voicemail to inform him that the coat had not been found.
Back in Australia, I followed this up with an email to the general manager, informing him of our situation. This was met with no response. Such inactivity, in our minds, suggests an overall disregard for our client experience.
Lost items can be replaced, however, in our minds, the reputation of this hotel has been irrevocably tarnished. Our trust in the calibre of this provider has been compromised. We wouldn’t recommend this business to anyone!

We are located in the heart of the CBD and we do get street noise despite the sound proofing on our building. I do apologise this caused a restless night but please reach out if you stay with us again and I'll arrange for a higher floor for you.
