We spent about 2.5 hours wandering through each level of the museum. We learned about Maori culture, volcanoes, wildlife, dinosaurs, various wars and our 6 year old was kept entertained the whole time. Very interactive and interesting.
Definitely worth a visit and in a lovely elevated position up on the hill in the centre of the Domain.
Just a short walk uphill from the railway station (10 minutes from Britomart - central Auckland).
So touching. They have a wall for the fallen soldiers. The museum was eclectic. Lots of beautifully preserved artifacts.
One of the best Museums I have been to across the world. The absolute pride in the Maori culture is a passion shared amongst those even from different lands. The embodiment of this rich history makes it hard to not emerse yourself in this perfect adaptation.
I don't love museums but this one is good! It has a good mixture between people, geography and history.
Just an amazing place to visit. Beautifully set out and super informative. It really is an Auckland must see. Would be wonderful for tourists and New Zealanders a like. You learn and see so much!!
