In town for Norah Jones concert & Copthorne was great as we could walk to venue. Our check in lady was sweet & very helpful. Room clean & tidy & big enough. Reasonable price, good value for $s. Parking available on a first come first served basis for $25 per night. Also nice and handy to Britomart which we wandered down to the next morning for breakfast.

Easy walking distance to the CBD, Wharf and Spark Arena. Our room was a bit tiered looking, but clean, not very soundproof. Nice entrance and reception area with helpful staff. Would we stay again .
... maybe.

One night stay on a business trip.

For $140 for the night it was much better value than the $75 I was quoted for a single room (with shared bathroom) in the backpackers around the corner.

The hotel was well located to the University (Law school), High Court and Pullman Hotel. It was a 10 minute walk (downhill) to Queen Street. Room was very clean, bed was very comfortable, there was a Juliette style balcony that you could step out on and the shower had good water pressure.

Only complaints were the ironing board had a big crease down the middle of it (made ironing difficult) and the bread used for the chip butty wasn't fresh. First world problems aye!

Would stay there again if travelling for similar purposes.

I was disappointed in the Copthorne before we arrived; so I am going to try to be fair when describing this hotel.

First the important things ~ it is clean, the room was bright and spacious, the bed was very comfortable.

The staff are efficient and helpful.

We started planning our 30 day vacation over a year before arriving and booked the Copthorne through and on the recommendation of our travel consultant. Two nights were booked. March 01/19 (our arrival) and March 26/19 (our departure home); and these were paid for 9 months before our trip. Two months before out trip we wanted to change our departure date and my disappointment arouse when we were told there would be no refund for a any change or cancellation. This is hotel policy and I should have been aware before booking.

Now the "downside"

There is no pool
There is no Business Centre (I opted to travel without my laptop)
Check-out is at 10:00am and they would not allow extended check out!
While "centrally located" & a 10 minute walk to the shopping and restaurants ~ it is 10 minutes of strenuous walking up a very steep hill to the hotel.
While polite, the staff are not "friendly" or engaging. I felt like I was interrupting them when I had a question or request.

Again, the hotel and staff did nothing wrong during our stay.

But they also did nothing to change the negative opinion I arrived with.
